Surprisingly the scaffolding people did turn up on Friday, but I hope my neighbours didn't want a bank holiday lie in because they were there at 8 am. Thankfully we were both up and ready by then, suspecting they'd be early. But, I still got quite the surprise when one knocked on the kitchen window while I was busy loading the dishwasher.
So, that was Friday. Yesterday we sorted the spare room out as they need to be in there to fit the heater. The room had very much become a dumping ground, but four bin bags of stuff went out, we put up pictures that had been sitting around and finally started to put up James' planes. Those planes, man. James collected them ages ago, Corey was at secondary school at the time so at least 10 years ago. James has always said he wanted to attach them to the ceiling with fishing wire, but like so many things never got around to it, so has had boxes of planes sitting around for ages. Yesterday the first ones went up. It'll take a while, mostly because getting the wire on them in tedious but that's James' job. All I do is stick the things in the ceiling.
Today we're off to deliver Easter gifts to my youngest niece and nephew. My SiL said no chocolate this year as they end up with loads, so they're getting a t-shirt each, then all the older nieces and nephews are getting some money. Boring but what they want. Then we're going to Newcastle to see Corey which I'm looking forward to. I haven't seen him since Christmas, which is far too long.
The shelter where we got Murphy is a very small independent run by one woman and her husband. She's seriously amazing and dedicated to the cats, and also has this amazing memory where she can tell you about every single cat that has gone from the rescue. She asked on the private adopters' group if anyone wanted to know the origins of their cats. I asked about Murphy and it turns out he was taken from a really dirty home, him and two families of nine other kittens, all riddled with fleas along with another pregnant cat and two older female cats who the owner demanded be returned after they'd been spayed. I've always known Murphy had three brothers and a sister but didn't realise they came from such a poor start.
I caught up on some tv last night and finished season two of New Amsterdam and season 2 of Bless This Mess. Only to find out that show has been cancelled. Sadness.

Date: 2021-04-04 09:16 am (UTC)I didn't even know it was going to be easter today until this past week, so no presents for the kids. *AUNT FAIL*
Ahhh, so happy Murphy found a better forever home with you guys.

Murphy did land on his four furry feet. I was amazed at Kay cat lady, she really did know the history of every cat she was asked about.

Date: 2021-04-05 12:02 pm (UTC)I did see Corey and it was great :D
Murphy sealed his fate when he licked James' hand at the cat cuddle event. We could have easily ended up with one of his sibs, but Murphy was always meant for us I think.

Date: 2021-04-04 06:58 pm (UTC)it's neat you have a bit more info about Murphy's past - that cat lady must have an exceptional memory

Date: 2021-04-05 12:00 pm (UTC)The planes do look good I have to admit. I hope you figure out what you want to hang too.
Kay the cat lady is amazing and very dedicated to the cats and the shelter. She's just made the questionnaire you have to answer to get a cat even harder to try and discourage all the lockdown new owners who haven't really thought about the animal's welfare long term.

Date: 2021-04-05 09:55 am (UTC)Yeah, Murphy's sibs are all loved. The rescue lady strongly encourages people to keep in touch via the FB group so I often see photos of them. They're called Geo, Toby, Eric and Delilah :D
I streamed all of season two of New Amsterdam so have been working my way through the eps at night. Next up is the Chicago shows, Fire and Med. But they're all dealing with COVID times and sometimes I just want a break from COVID stuff, especially in the med setting when people are dying of it.

Date: 2021-04-06 02:37 pm (UTC)I have to say, I'm impressed how they got this first stage done so quickly. Guess that government money is a good incentive.

Date: 2021-04-07 06:13 pm (UTC)I did have a good time meeting Corey, it was just a shame he still doesn't live next to a park.
Kay cat lady is amazing, and utterly dedicated to the cats. She often drives 50 miles a few times a day when she's trapping feral kittens in a forest.
