Good things. The £500 extra working tax credit COVID bonus hit our bank account this morning. It's already been split up, a chunk going into savings, some bills paid and also means we don't have to worry about paying the arranged monthly vet bill this month.

Disappointing things. The assessor came out, took up some floorboards and then said there's not enough room under the floor for his company to do the insulation. Now, the man from the actual green grant scheme said they'd be doing it from above while this man said it was from below so I've no idea what's going to happen now. Because this stage can't happen we won't get the new boiler either. Guess it's just a case of waiting now.

Sad things. Kayleigh's had to take her oldest cat to the vets. Mr Tumnus is 16 and has been poorly and it turns out he's got pancreatitis, but they're also waiting to see what his bloods say as he could also have other issues. I've been messaging her all morning and she's in bits waiting to hear the results. He has to stay at the vets for the weekend regardless, but more bad news on top of the pancreatitis could result in them having to go for the saddest option.

And Kayleigh has just phoned, his bloods have came back fine apart from the pancreatitis and apparently after fluids he's perked up loads and may come home tonight along with a boatload of meds. Cats man, they always make you worry.

Messy things. While waiting for Kayleigh to phone I decided to use the cookie mix and make some cookies. Softened the butter nicely, went to get the flour to roll them out and knocked some spice bottles down, which knocked the salt down, which knocked over my chicken basket full of eggs which smashed on the floor. Those cookies better be tasty!

hah, your cabinets sound like mine--the kids won't even open them at this point. If they need spices or stuff for baking, they just hand me the recipe and wait until I unload half the shelf to find what they need.

I'm happy to hear Mr. Tumnus is looking better! My Hugo turned sixteen this year (this month, actually! Yes, we celebrated :) and it. Is. Nerve-wracking.

I hope the cookies were worth the trouble!

Good vibes for Mr Tumnus. My kitties are like 13 this summer and still in good health but I know it won't last forever.

Cookies better be worth the mess!

Hooray for bonus money!

It all sounds terrible frustrating! Not getting clear information and just having to wait is awful! I'm keeping everything crossed for you!

Poor Mr Tumnus! I'm glad he perked up and could come home again.

Oh dear! As everyone's already said, those cookies better have tasted fantastic to be worth all that trouble!

Wow, this whole floorboard issue sounds like's it's turning into a saga! I hope they can figure it out.

All best wishes to Mr Tumnus (and what an excellent name for a cat).

And that sounds like a very cinematic cascade in the kitchen - must have been immensely frustrating. May your sacrifice feed the household brownies well.

I hope the cookies were good! It does always seem to happen that way - one thing goes wrong and then they compound the nonsense!

How annoying about the green grant stuff, I hope they can get things sorted out for you.

I'm glad Mr Tumnus is doing better than feared, but I'm sorry you've had a setback with the insulation and the boiler :( Hopefully they'll find a way around the too-small floorspace.

Haha, poor Mr Tumnus! Bad enough to be in cat jail without also having someone inspecting your litterbox output ;D

I find having tradies in super stressful, so I sympathise!
