May. 10th, 2021 05:48 pmI got excellent mail today, thank you
misbegotten for the very cool postcard.
There was a spectacular thunderstorm earlier. Everything suddenly went back, then there was some hail, then a bit heavy rain then thunder and lightning for ages. Now it's brilliantly sunny and warmer than it's been for ages.
The Musketeers Dragon series finished today. I knew it was coming as the writer had been following a rough timeline of the series and there have been 50 stories posted so many many thousands of words. Plus, they've said they'll write little stand-alones in the universe every now and then. But, still, I'm greedy and don't want it to end.
Kayleigh and Lucy went for a 4D scan today but my newest niece was being a pain and wouldn't drop her legs from in front of her face. So, they've got to go back next week. Apparently, she does have big eyes and a button nose though, so that's something.
The blackbirds are back nesting in the ivy on the fence outside my kitchen window. I suspect the eggs must have hatched as the male blackbird keeps going in with his beak full of worms, or maybe the female blackbird is in there sitting on the eggs, I'm not actually sure if they do that. Anyway, he's incredibly territorial and keeps chasing away the big birds. Sparrows he'll let stay in the garden but magpies and crows get charged. He's not even happy when I'm out there, sitting on the fence and chirping like I need to go back inside already.

Date: 2021-05-11 08:50 am (UTC)They are amazingly protective. I love how they'll puff up when they chase away the much bigger birds. Sometimes I'll see a black streak from the corner of my eye, look out the window and there's the blackbird divebombing a fat pigeon.

Date: 2021-05-17 06:47 am (UTC)It's funny how insistent smaller creatures can be - the bird couldn't physically move a human but can for sure put the pressure on in other ways! I hope you get to enjoy your garden despite that, though.

Date: 2021-05-18 06:53 am (UTC)I am enjoying the garden, Mr Blackbird would make himself known and swoop at other birds, but that time he nearly got me was I mistake I think and normally he'd just sit on the fence and make his displeasure known verbally. I do think him being so feisty led to his death, I suspect he would have swooped at a cat and came off second best.
