May. 31st, 2021 04:49 pmI really enjoyed Cruella yesterday. I mean, it's not going to win any awards or anything, but it was fun and watchable and really, that's all I need.
The cinema was the busiest it's been so far but they've got safety down and all queues were very well managed. As it was another beautiful and warm day I dug out my refillable cup and bought a carton of iced coffee from the Poundland that's around the corner from the cinema. As the Odeon staff have no issue with us using the ice machine without buying a drink I filled up my cup and added the coffee which was much cheaper than getting an iced latte from the nearby Starbucks. So, that's the plan going forward for the warm months.
We didn't end up going to B&Q in the end so went today instead, though the plants looked like they'd been ransacked, so I had to top up with more bedding plants from B&M. I did manage to get two very withered bushes from B&Q which were being sold for 50p, but I suspect with some water they'll spring back nicely.
I've just spent the last hour or so planting and hacking back some of the ivy where it's encroaching on the path outside, so now feel all sun warm and content, though in need of a nice cool bath. Sadly, after that, I need to iron James' work shirts as I forgot all about them. I keep debating with myself that he only needs one before he's off on annual leave, but really, as tempting as it is I can't really leave the other three crumpled on the floor for weeks.
I've been watching The Masked Dancer and quite enjoying it, though not as much as I like The Masked Singer. Rubber Chicken cracked me up last night, just watching him made me laugh and he embraced the role completely. Other than that I'm working my way through The Nevers, which is interesting enough.

Date: 2021-06-01 06:39 am (UTC)I hope the bushes do flourish once you get them in the ground. I think a lot of plants are quite tough that way.
And if you managed to talk yourself into doing all the shirts, I hope you get to rest in a virtuous glow all during his leave. :p

Date: 2021-06-01 07:17 am (UTC)Yeah, I think the bushes will be fine. Like many shop plants, they'd just been neglected, so some water, TLC and food and they should spring back.
The shirts are done! There are now three stupid work shirts all pressed and ready for later in the month.

Date: 2021-06-02 06:07 pm (UTC)I'm sure the bushes will recover with a little TLC! What kind where they?
Go you for keeping the ivy at bay! I hope you enjoyed your bath and that the shirt ironing wasn't too exhausting.

Date: 2021-06-17 11:52 am (UTC)I just went to look as I've still got the tags and they're Caryopteris. And you're right, they did recover, well mostly. I had to cut off some totally dead parts but mostly they've come back great.
I always complain about the ironing and it takes me all of half an hour to do all four. The thought is worse than the reality.
