James went back to work on Wednesday after his annual leave, and I have to admit we got very little done in the house -- like, only taping up the ceiling where we'd had the leak, little.

But, we also went to the cinema four times, took my MiL and FiL out for a couple of day trips, went walking in the sunshine often, met Corey for dinner, pottered in the garden and of course, went to my sister's wedding. So, all in all, it was a good way to spend time.

Since Wednesday I've been painting the downstairs toilet, and it's now a very bright lime green. I thought it would be done much faster than it's actually taking but because the space is so small I was having to paint two walls and leave to dry otherwise it would have been impossible to get up on the step stool without planting my backside against wet paint. Plus, it needed two coats. Now I've only got the glossing of the woodwork to do and a new bathroom cabinet to put up, though that won't happen until Monday. I'm hoping once that's up and a few pictures rehung it'll tone down the colour as right now it's a bit luminous.

Bad thing was I managed to break the lid of the closomat toilet. I was using the stepladders then and the lack of space meant I overbalanced, stepped back onto the closed toilet and crack. Thankfully it was just the lid and not the seat which is attached to the jets so it's still usable, but still, it's £100 for a new one. I bought some heavy-duty glue and will try glueing the pieces back on, but if that doesn't work, at least it's just cosmetic damage so there's no rush to buy new.

And while we're talking about the not so good, James managed to trip up the steps to the front door yesterday and fell down them. Thankfully our neighbour next door was out with his toddler so came over to help James up and into the house. He's okay now, a bit bruised on his leg as he caught his shin on the edge of the step, but it could have been a hell of a lot worse.

Today I've an Olio order to pick up at 9:30, then I think we're heading off to Re.F.Use for breakfast before heading to Durham for an afternoon showing of In The Heights in the IMax, it looks like it's going to be a ridiculous musical and I love those lots, so I'm looking forward to it.

I need to do a big online catch-up, and intend to asap. So will say in advance, sorry to everyone that posts often.

I'd say it sounds like you spent your time very well!

Go you getting the painting done, also. That sounds frustrating about the toilet lid, but good that it's not an immediate practical issue. (I am still driving around with a dent in my car door for similar reasons...)

I'm glad James wasn't hurt worse. Those sudden trips can be scary!

And I hope you had a wonderful show!

Sounds like excellent use of holiday time to me. Relaxing, enjoying yourselves, and seeing family. Things that *have* to be done will just have to get done anyway!

Hope James' leg is properly recovered.

I think that sounds like you were both enormously productive over James's break, and given Pandemic World (tm) I think getting out and seeing people and doing things >>>>> house stuff.

I hope James has pulled up okay after his tumble and I'm so glad you have such great neighbours where you are.

As everyone has already said, it sounds like you've had a great time during James' leave!

Sounds like you have a very bright and fun downstairs loo now. It's a pity that you managed to crack the toiled lid but hopefully it isn't too noticeable. I'm sure the walls will keep people's attention ;-)

Poor James! I hope the bruises and scratches on his leg has healed up by now!
