Jun. 25th, 2021 08:15 amThe temperature has dropped 15 degrees since yesterday and it has been raining since early evening. The garden badly needed it though and while I'm sure I'll be muttering about the rain later, right now it's nice to feel cool again.
We're off to see the new Fast and Furious film this afternoon. We've booked at the bigger Odeon with the huge IMax screen because F&F needs the biggest screen possible to best take in the inevitable ridiculous plot, explosions and pretty people.
Before that, we need to go to Newcastle to pick up some Monster Truck show tickets for tomorrow night. Thankfully, I'm not going to that, instead, James is having an evening with my SiL's partner and my youngest nephew. The parter is paying for tickets and food and James is providing transport, so it works out, especially as they'll all enjoy the trucks.
I'm very tempted to book some tickets for Mog on the Tyne while we're in the area. We haven't been there since before the second lock-down and all the kittens will be much bigger now.
Pick up tickets, Mog, film, sounds good to me. This is why I like James' new shifts so much. His work still have him evaluating if he wants to do five days with shorter hours or four days with extended hours, but the second is working so much better as it gives us a day in the week, which is inevitably less busy than the weekend. Oh, and I must pick up some cat food too, otherwise there will be riots tonight.
Had some good news yesterday that a missing Bengal cat had been found. She's been missing for nearly a week and the owner had her photo all over the FB group for our town. James thought he'd seen her on the field next to our estate when he was going to work one morning so I messaged the lady and went up to look, but sadly there was no sign of the cat. But I did have a talk to the woman when she arrived and saw how worried she was. So it was fantastic to see them reunited again.
The
fandomgiftbox boxes, have been getting posted and I need to read through them and pick something to write. I figure if I put up my own giftbox I need to try and add something to others.

Date: 2021-06-26 07:03 pm (UTC)F9 is playing at our local theater and while I want to see it, I'm still leery about going to the theater. I'd love to know what you thought.

Date: 2021-06-28 04:15 pm (UTC)Yeah, I can understand being wary about going to the cinema. It's very much a personal choice and I don't blame anyone for hanging back still.
I actually really enjoyed F9. The franchise is one where I don't have to think hard beyond trying to remember how characters have interacted or met before are in a relationship, family etc.
Admittedly, there were some out there parts that should have resulted in death a hundred times over. But again, that's part of the franchise, and at heart, this part continues to be about family and found family, and I really like that.
I know I was never bored and the time seemed to flash by, which I always think is the sign of a good film.

Date: 2021-06-28 05:14 pm (UTC)I would happily go to the movies if they were still requiring masks and social distancing, but with the new rules, I'm not sure they are and I don't trust most of the people around here not wearing masks because it's very much a Red and anti-masking county.
I'm glad that F9 continues to be about family/found-family. They feel more like regular action movies lately (I miss Paul Walker so much), but that aspect does make them different.

Date: 2021-06-28 05:23 pm (UTC)Thankfully our cinemas are still really strict about distancing and mask use. They even direct you out of the emergency exit doors after the film to lessen potential crowds in the lobby. I also like you can't book a seat next to a stranger, there's always a gap, so I do think the chain is doing all it can which is reassuring.
It does yeah, and I love that Brian is still mentioned, like he's always there, just offscreen.
Paul Walker is a miss, the tribute to him at the end of F&F7 always gets me.
