Movies 24 is doing Christmas in July again. You know what will be my background watching for the next month :D
My plans to look at the fandom gift boxes and fill some didn't happen when we unexpectedly got contacted by the green grant people. Apparently, they'd still been looking into the boiler situation and could offer us a new one. Which would be fitted two days after that phone call.
Thankfully the airing cupboard was well organised still so it was easy to empty it again then hide out with the cats while it was fitted. That was nearly a full day job and the electrician still has to come back on Tuesday to refit the HIVE, but after that, no more workmen.
Last week James was also dinged by the COVID app saying he had to self isolate for three days, which was a bit of a shock. Checking it out the contact was on a workday the week before. On those days he's only at home, driving to or from work or at work, so he knew the contact had to be at HQ. After a call to ask about what would happen about time off a lot of talking going on between the COVID officer at work and others and they eventually decided as he's double vaccinated, wears masks all times in public, sanitises his hands and does regular self lateral testing he could go to work anyway, as basically, the app is useless. Seemingly as it works on Bluetooth you could be pinged as a potential contact even on the other side of a wall, which is a bit worrying.
Within the last week, two of my opposite neighbours have died. They lived next door to each other and both have been poorly but still, they were both sudden deaths. I have no emotional attachment beyond talking to them for years but still, I feel for their families so much. Especially the second man who had a wife and a daughter who was still living at home.
I remain delighted 911 and 911 Lonestar are back. I watch and every episode just think, these shows are ridiculous, and yet, they're awesomely ridiculous and I love every dramatic moment. Supergirl, The Flash and The Legends of Tomorrow have also started again this week, so that's another three shows on the to-watch list.
I'm behind on the Sunshine challenge already. Hopefully, I'll catch up, but even if I don't I'll enjoy reading the responses.
I suggested tonight would be a good night to go grocery shopping or the cinema as places would be empty, but James was displeased with the suggestion *g* Saying that, I'll be half watching the match too, though I suspect it won't be as exciting as the last one.

Date: 2021-07-03 09:01 pm (UTC)I somehow thought I'd missed Sunshine, that it was last month, so I'm now going to happily toddle over there and play along :)

Date: 2021-07-04 06:56 am (UTC)I hope you enjoy Sunshine. They've gone for unusual prompts again and I have no idea how to answer right now. I have a feeling I may have to pass on challenge one.

Date: 2021-07-04 01:08 am (UTC)And I'm glad James is safe enough not to miss work. I hadn't thought about the case of being physically in range but separated by a wall. I signed up for the local equivalent but have never gotten a ping.
Sending hopes for peace and comfort for all mourning your neighbors. That's quite a startling loss so soon after each other, even if you weren't close.
Congrats on the unexciting win. :)

Date: 2021-07-04 06:54 am (UTC)Yeah, it's been a big thing here that many people have been pinged without leaving their homes. It turned out that their neighbours have tested positive and the Bluetooth thought they were close enough to class as a contact despite walls between them.
James is lucky that his work is big enough they have a dedicated COVID department and that the contact happened on a workday. I suspect if it was on one of his days off the waters would have been muddied.
I enjoyed the match. I wasn't expecting the atmosphere to be as good due to the lack of fans but everyone watching stepped it up.
One thing, well, despite the goals, that still sticks in my mind is the Ukrainian players applauding their fans after the game. They all stood in formation, arms up in a Y and clapped really slowly at first, then faster and faster. It was lovely to see.

Date: 2021-07-04 11:14 am (UTC)That’s a shame about your neighbours *hugs*
I’ve not seen any of the 911 but I think I’ve seen ads for it.

Date: 2021-07-05 03:17 pm (UTC)Yeah, two deaths so close and next door to each other was weird. And they were both nice men.
The 911 shows are great. Totally OTT but in a way that makes you want to keep watching.

Date: 2021-07-07 07:03 pm (UTC)That's wonderful news about the boiler. I hope the electrician has done is duty by now!
That's rather worrying about the app being so useless. I hope James is feeling well!
That's so sad.
Good luck with the Sunshine challenge!

Date: 2021-07-07 09:21 pm (UTC)The electrician has been and gone and thankfully all should finally be done.
There have been concerns about the app for a long time, mainly because so many people have been pinged due to living next door to a positive case or situations like that. James is fine, no symptoms at all, which is another reason he was so surprised to get the alert.
I'm tanking with the Sunshine challenge again. I don't know what it is, I like that they try a different kind of challenge, but I find it so hard to think of a response.
