turpsIt's such a grey wet day today, the kind where it's nice to stay in. But we didn't.
First, we went to Re.F.Use for our usual Saturday breakfast and I'm so glad that we did. They must have had an extra big surplus delivery as they had a chiller and boxes at the back of the cafe saying to help yourself to the food there. We ended up with two bags with such things as a pineapple, decent bread, blueberries, a delicious looking wood-fired veggie pizza and pasta from Pasta Evangalistics, which is one of their regular surplus food suppliers, as well as lots of other stuff.
From there we had a drive to the beach, where it was misty and very wet, but so lovely to have a walk in the fresh, if damp air.
Now I'm home and attempting a catch up yet again.
First, though, the A03 meme I saw atmisbegotten's journal. And hey, I like talking about writing even if I haven't done it in a million years.

The Sexth Sense -- The Umbrella Academy

Blurring the Truth and the Lies -- bandom
The bandom ones have been the same for many years, just pushed aside by what was the juggernaut of TUA in season one.
5) Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
I do. Well, 99% of the time I do. In the past comments have slipped through simply because rl was acting up.
6) What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
Oh man, I'm not sure. While I do write angst mostly they have happy, or else, potentially happy endings. I'm sure there are some with angsty endings, but I can't think of them offhand.
7) What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?
Though it's probably because I've just seen it above, the one which sticks in my mind is Blurring the Truth and the Lies where pretty much the end scene is Pete uses his hands to send Mikey a heart as he leaves. Which doesn't sound especially happy but fits in nicely with how I see them.
8) Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve written?
You know, I can't think of any right now. Probably in the past.
9) Have you ever received hate on a fic?
The worst I've ever got in an actual comment was someone taking exception to me writing het in a TUA story, with the comment ew het which made me laugh more than anything. I've also seen my stuff listed as guilty pleasures before, which is fine too, and not surprising considering my love for h/c and what I write.
10) Do you write smut? If so what kind?
I do, but not often. As for what kind, het, slash, group sex, I've written a lot of things if needed. Just it's not my favourite thing to write.
11) Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I have. Someone took When Day Is Night Alone and posted it on Wattpad. Thankfully someone saw and kicked up a fuss for me and it was taken down.
12) Have you ever had a fic translated?
I have, there are a few Russian translations out there.
13) Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yep, with Sperrywink, and also someone who has left fandom completely and took down all their works so I won't mention their names.
14) What’s your all-time favorite ship?
Mikey/Frank for bandom. Aramis/everyone for Musketeers. Clint/Bucky for MCU. Those are the main ones.
15) What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
Okay, so I have this story that's a follow up to one of my longer bandom stories. I wrote a lot of it but at this point I know I'll never finish it. What sucks though is someone loved the first story and kept commenting asking when the new part was coming. Not in a bad pestering way, but hopeful comments over months and then years and sorry that person, I think it's never going to be finished.
16) What are your writing strengths?
I like world-building and sometimes, dialogue, especially characters I know well.
17) What are your writing weaknesses?
Writing endings, my regular beta despairs at that because I always lose momentum and finish before I should. I know it's a fault and at this point always leave myself time in challenges because I always know I'll have to add more.
18) What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I wouldn't try because I know I wouldn't do it well.
19) What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Officially, The Sentinel. Unofficially, if we're talking stuff that never made it online, thank goodness, a Voyager fic I wrote on the back of an A4 piece of paper, and years before that, a story for English class in secondary school which was a horribly OTT Hardy Boys h/c fic.
20) What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
I have many favourites for many reasons. But, despite it not being the best written of my stuff, I'd say Tints verse, simply for the comments I've got about it.

Date: 2021-08-22 02:14 pm (UTC)Because you pay what you feel for the food you get a mix of people who go there because it's the only place they'd get a hot meal and those that pay over the odds because they support the ethos of the scheme.
It amazes me that so much food is just thrown away by the grocery shops, all perfectly good. At least this way it's not ending up in landfill.
I enjoyed my walk at the beach. The fog looked really cool rolling in over the ocean.
