My MiL sold her house to a developer so the last week has been full steam ahead getting that sorted. Today they're doing a lot of tip runs, so to save room in the car, I get to stay home, and no lie, I've been enjoying the time alone.
The sale is going relatively smoothly, Kayleigh's bestie from childhood days, and therefore a family friend, works for a lawyer who does property sales. Normally she does commercial but asked for permission to help us out and she's been great, explaining what needs to be done and then doing everything personally so we know exactly where we're at.
My MiL isn't getting much for the house, but considering the state that it's in she's doing okay. I did feel sorry for her the other day, everyone else who has been to see the house has been respectful despite the very poor condition. On Tuesday two men supposedly came to measure up for the windows and one instantly pulled his coat over his face and made no attempt to hide his distaste, then they tried to haggle the price down stating condition. James was having none of that though and as soon as they walked out phoned the contractor who really wasn't happy his workers had tried that on when a sale price had been agreed on.
So yeah, lots of organising and moving stuff and arranging has been going on.
I've also been to see Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings which I really enjoyed and Our Ladies which made me laugh loads, though I'm not sure how the humour would translate. We've eaten out a ridiculous amount of times, mostly arranged and paid for by my MiL.
She had to have a minor surgical procedure on Monday and when I picked her up she suggested we go out to eat and I just couldn't face it. Thankfully she was happy enough with a coffee at the sea front as I don't think she was actually up to going to a cafe or restaurant. I know she's doing this due to everything going on with fannish niece and losing my FiL meaning she's clinging to family but it turns out you can eat out too often.
She's also planning to pay for a fortnight at Butlins for the whole family next year, which will be a ridiculous cost, especially as it will have to be in the school holidays. I like Butlins and will happily go but not for two weeks. That would cut into James' holiday days big time and also means we may have to either move our main holiday abroad or knock it on the head completely.
Fannish niece still hasn't been in touch. She was supposed to be going with me, James and my SiL to see Rocky Horror at the theatre next week, but won't reply to any message asking if she still plans on going. She also has until next week to sign up for this year at college, but somehow I suspect neither will happen. She's sent my SiL a five-word text message and is ignoring my MiL who is sending her daily voice mails.
Milo is doing well. I ordered him some steps to get on the couch and while he won't use them solo he will with a bit of urging so he'll get there. We did have an incident where we'd been out, came back and found he'd had Diarrhea, had apparently fallen in it, and had left a trail around the house, which was lovely to clean.
Sadly, Bodhi is in the hospital right now. Kayleigh messaged last night sending photos showing under her arms had broken out with what looked like puss in the creases. I told her to take her to the children's casualty and she did so, where they've kept her in for observation. She's okay, but Kayleigh's exhausted and due to Covid will only let one parent stay, so Lucy had to go home.
And that's the main points I think. I've barely been online so will attempt a catchup while pottering in the house, see what you've all been up to.

Date: 2021-09-09 04:57 pm (UTC)I hope you get to see it soon, it's a fun film.
Apart from the armpit issue, Bodhi is perfectly healthy. I just wish both Kayleigh and Lucy could stay with her.

Date: 2021-09-09 01:05 pm (UTC)I don't even know what to say about fannish niece who should at the very least reply to let you know what's going on. I really hate it when people go silent. Not cool to ghost your own family.
I'm glad Milo is doing well!
Wow, that sounds awful for poor Bodhi! I hope they figure out what it is quickly (infection of some sort?) and can clear it up.

Date: 2021-09-09 02:46 pm (UTC)No, it's not cool at all to ghost your family. I honestly don't know what's got into fannish niece. My MiL has always thought they had a close relationship, which is why I guess she keeps trying to phone. But my niece is showing that can't be the case. The least she could have done was send a message on the day my MiL was in hospital, that would have taken all of a minute.
They're now thinking Bodhi may have thrush, though it's weird how it got bad so fast. She's perfectly healthy otherwise, just the inflammation in her armpits. We've had a mini heatwave here the last few days, so I wonder if that helped contribute as this came out of nowhere.

Date: 2021-09-09 04:59 pm (UTC)Oh man, as an overweight adult I've had yeast infections in various places (like under my boobs) and it is really not comfortable. I started using baby wipes to clean those areas between showers, especially when it's really hot out. I hope it clears up quickly now that they know what it is.

Date: 2021-09-10 06:37 pm (UTC)The situation with fannish niece sounds anything but nice however. I feel so sorry for your MiL. It must be devastating for her to be treated like that by a grandchild.
It's so good to hear Milo is doing well!
Poor little Bohdi! I hope it's something easy to treat so she doesn't have to suffer for long.

Date: 2021-09-11 04:52 pm (UTC)Fannish niece still hasn't been in touch. I get needing time, but this nuclear action is ridiculous, it really wouldn't hurt for her to send a text. If not to her mam to her nanna, who is gutted by the whole situation.
Hopefully Bohdi can come home tomorrow. They think she has impetigo now and she's been switched from IV antibiotics to oral ones. I know it doesn't make much difference to her where she is, but Kayleigh and Lucy are really struggling.

Date: 2021-09-11 05:08 am (UTC)Poor Milo. I'm sorry you had to deal with that cleaning! But I hope he enjoys the access the steps give him.
I hope you have a blast at Rocky Horror regardless!

Date: 2021-09-11 04:15 pm (UTC)Milo can use his steps with a bit of help. He could probably do them all on his own really but he's lost confidence in jumping a bit. But, like I keep saying, he'll get there.
I'm sure we will :)

Date: 2021-09-15 03:30 pm (UTC)It's a shame as my SiL was always supportive of her relationship, just wanted her to finish college before moving away.
