Sep. 29th, 2021 11:58 amCorey was waiting for a delivery at work today so gave me a call while he waiting, so I got a good 60 mins natter with him this morning, which was great. He's doing good, but has been temp transferred back to the students bar and the strip club while the freshers are in town. Though today he's organising cellars which doesn't sound fun.
What was best though is I was telling him about a new task I've taken on to rate FB ads. It's okay money but is ridiculously tedious as I have to do it on my mobile, and while I can touch type on my PC, on my phone I can only one finger type which takes ages. So he suggested I use the app 'Your Phone' to cast my phone to my PC and it works. Now I'll be able to zip through my ads in minutes.
His timing was perfect too as I'm not been long back from picking up James' work trousers from the clothing alteration shop when he rang. Again, it was a gorgeous sunny autumn day and I enjoyed my stroll, especially as it looks like it's going to be rain, rain and then more rain from tomorrow.
Amazingly, we got mail today. I don't know if the postal service has been caught in the same issues that have caused the petrol and food shortages, but we've had no delivered mail for well over a week. Today there was a thump and a load of letters on the mat. I haven't looked at them properly yet though, as no doubt they'll be bills.
It looks like I may have hit on a sweet spot when I sent my thank you cards as they all got delivered nicely, though the parcel I sent at the same time is still missing in action. But, the same happened last time so I'm not losing hope yet.
I'm back in a winterhawk reading mood again -- and yes, I never really left it, just cram some Musketeers and Downton Abbey in there on occasions -- and just finished Dimensional Dominoes by flawedamythyst last night. They're one of my favourite winterhawk writers and how I've missed this story I don't know as it was fantastic, with Three different Clints from three different worlds which as far as I could make out were, fanon Avengers, canon film Avengers and fraction mixed with worst-case scenario Avengers.
Next up is the new story from sara_holmes which is a The Witcher Fusion that looks interesting, though looking at it is also a WIP so I may wait on that, and the latest sort of DC cross from Shatteredhourglass which is all kinds of messed up but something I'm enjoying.
But that's not until bath and book time. Before that I need to tidy the breakfast things and hoover because the cats insist on flicking cat litter everywhere, then go and give the garden a bit of a tidy while it's dry.

Date: 2021-10-01 05:43 pm (UTC)I think organising cellars sounds like great fun :-)
Go Corey for coming up with such a great app for you! Typing on a phone takes forever.
It must be so frustrating to not get mail regularly! I hope the postal service will get their act together asap.
Cats are the worst! If they aren't flicking litter everywhere where they're shedding great clouds of fluffy hair!

Date: 2021-10-04 04:02 pm (UTC)I'd imagine organising a cellar would be right up your street *g*
But yeah, the app is great and saves me so much time.
The post is getting on my nerves now. Last week we had one day when we got that big pile, another day with two letters and that's it. It has to be tied into the lack of delivery drivers, but at this rate I'll need to send my Christmas cards now for them to get there in time.

Date: 2021-10-11 03:46 am (UTC)That sucks about the mail though. We're about to have a deliberately planned slowdown, supposedly to save costs, but it's hard not to think it's mismanagement. In any case, I feel for the frustration of not getting deliveries!

I'd suspect the same too. It is frustrating because often important things are taking ages to arrive. In the last fortnight we've had mail on 3 days, and always a bunch coming together. While I don't expect to get mail every day, it does look like it's getting collected somewhere then delivered at a later date.
