Oct. 15th, 2021 05:39 pmGood things.
We ordered our new Motability car today! There's a delay so while James is supposed to get the new one at the beginning of Jan it may be up to March, but for the electric boot, he's happy to wait. Plus, he now has to pay for some of his adaptations, so it's an extra £100 for the flip foot peddles. But, along with the deposit, that doesn't need to be paid until new car day so not a worry for now.
We saw Venom 2 and I very much enjoyed it. I was surprised it finished so fast, then saw it had a running time of 1 hour 37, which isn't that short. Just, lately, I've got used to films being much longer. Also, if fandom doesn't lap up this film yet again I'll be very surprised.
We finished watching Squid Game last night. Now to catch up on the other stuff I've missed due to binge-watching that the last few nights. A local working man's club is doing their own version of Squid Game, £10 a ticket while stressing no killing will take place, which I would hope would be a given and made me laugh when I saw.
Not so much a good thing as a thing, James had a limb centre appointment at 9am so we've been out of the house since 8. It also meant I spent well over an hour reading in the car, which was nice.

Date: 2021-10-15 05:13 pm (UTC)I'm interested in Venom 2 just because Andy Serkis directed it. I suppose I ought to watch Venom first. ;)

Date: 2021-10-18 12:20 pm (UTC)I was just reading an interview with Andy Serkis and he said Venom 2 was a fast, muscular... not hanging around too much with exposition. to which I think he means, it has a distinct lack of plot and a lot of action and tentacles.
Which is, you could probably watch without seeing the first part *g*

Date: 2021-10-15 06:59 pm (UTC)I've seen posts re Venom 2 on Tumblr in which they quote the 'critics' who are calling the movie 'a ridiculous mess' and a 'porn tentacle fest' and the response is a huge BRING IT ON, lol!
(Here's one of those posts.)

Ahahaha, I can relate. If I had to describe in fannish terms I'd use monster fucking curtain fic.

Date: 2021-10-18 12:12 pm (UTC)James' appointment was fine. It was just to get his leg straps, just took longer than expected as they'd ordered the wrong kind.

Date: 2021-10-18 12:10 pm (UTC)They do, thank goodness!
We did have a worrying time a year or so back when James had to reapply for his PIP, because you know, his leg will grow back and his disabilities magically heal themselves, but thankfully he got that back too.
Though, I suspect that the Tories would cut the benefit if they could. God knows, they don't like giving out money.

Sonny!! Cher!! *g*

Date: 2021-10-19 11:06 am (UTC)It is a shame that some adjustments have to be paid for now, but he's learned that he'll get a good condition handing back bonus of £600 so that'll go toward some of the costs. Now we just have to hope no one crashes into the car in the next few months.
Best hens! I need to keep a look out for an icon of Venom wearing those luminous bands. I loved that part.
