It's so weird to see the
mini_wrimo posts go up and not take part. I've joined and taken part in that comm for many years, but was just not feeling writing right now. There's still time to join and I may do so yet, even a 100-word target would get something done I suppose.
We had the heating on last night and Milo jumped up onto the back of the couch. It's such a small thing but it's lovely to see him regain his confidence.
The sale of my MiL's house completed today. She'll have the money in her account now and James will hand over the keys to the developer tomorrow. It's sad in some ways, but good in another, and at least everything is done and dusted now apart from that final handover.
James phoned the doctors about his back and got a telephone appointment, supposedly with his usual doctor. When they phoned it was actually a nurse practitioner who are great, and take a lot of pressure off the doctors at our surgery, but James really needs one of the doctors who knows and understands his condition. But her advice came down to, hot and cold on his back, pain killers regularly and try to move around but not too much, and stay off work for now as sitting in one spot for ten hours shifts isn't a good idea.
Kayleigh and Lucy have just started to binge-watch Game of Thrones, they're still on season one and I got a message saying, I can't believe they did that to Sean Bean! So I told her, think that's bad, wait until you get to the Red Wedding. I think of all they've got to see for the first time and wish I could see it all again with new eyes. But then remember the clusterfuck of later seasons and start muttering to myself about Bran the Useless and think maybe it's best to just think fondly of the highlights, which to be fair, were many at first.
Last night my Fire did me the dirty and shut down just as I hit a good part of a Musketeer fic. When I went for my bath and read the battery was at 38% and I thought surely that was enough, but no, no it was not. And it died at such a tense part too.
The result was inevitable for Strictly at the weekend, but still sad. My favourite pro, gone. Still, I can keep on enjoying him on Insta.
The Costa Christmas drinks are out, and Christmas cups. I was there earlier but as I sat in didn't get a Christmas cup. But I did see they're selling Costa Christmas Tree ornaments that are just the perfect level of tacky and will be going on my tree this year :D

Date: 2021-11-03 05:34 pm (UTC)Aww Milo! That’s so sweet
Yeah I’ve heard some of the things in Game Of Thrones. I only ever watched a few eps but I think it’d be a bit grim for me to watch the whole thing
Oh no I hope your fire works ok, but that sucks!
Ohh you’ll have to take a pic when you get one!

Date: 2021-11-18 11:22 am (UTC)Game of Thrones is good, but yeah, grim is the word. Some episodes will forever be stuck in my head I think.
I did get the Costa decorations, and must take a photo at some point.

Date: 2021-11-03 07:27 pm (UTC)Bummer about your Fire turning off at such an inopportune moment!
I hope that advice works and James feels better soon.

ALL the good thoughts to James!
That was very naughty of your Fire!
Tacky Christmas tree ornaments definitely sound like something for you :-) I hope we'll get to see photos!

Date: 2021-11-06 03:14 am (UTC)I'm glad the house is off your hands now, despite all the bittersweet aspects.
And that's a shame James didn't get to talk with his actual doctor, but I hope the recommendations work well for him!

Date: 2021-11-08 04:29 pm (UTC)Yeah, it's good the house is gone. It was a lot of work getting it to that point.
The recommendations seem to be working so far, fingers crossed.

Date: 2021-11-08 03:50 am (UTC)Also, I'm hoping to be over there next July/August. I miss being in the same place as you :)

Date: 2021-11-08 04:11 pm (UTC)I miss you too, I always think of you when we're in Newcastle, the place has such a strong connection with you now.
You need to do what you need to do right now, and if that means focussing on your PhD I'm glad you're doing so. I'm always here on the other side of the screen ♥

Date: 2021-11-21 06:30 pm (UTC)Good luck to James' back and maybe he could do shorter shifts?
I love tacky ornaments too! I'm thinking of getting a small tree this year and actually doing Christmas up for real.

Date: 2021-11-22 12:55 pm (UTC)James could do shorter shifts but it would mean he has to work five days a week instead of four. The four suits him better now, though I suspect at some point he'll have to drop some hours. Really, what would suit him best would be working from home as that would lose the hour commute there and back, but they're still holding back on that.
Tacky ornaments are the best! I'm glad you're getting a tree, that will be fab :D
