Nov. 9th, 2021 03:21 pmEarlier James was crashed out on the couch and must have been dreaming about work as he was sleep talking a triage. Sadly he stopped so I'll never know what was wrong with the person on the other end of the dream line *g*
My MiLs house is finally fully sold and now everything is done, keys handed over and the money in her bank account. James has driven past the house three times since then, including today, as he wants to see what's happening to it. Today there was a full skip outside and windows out upstairs and it looked worse than ever. It's funny how different people deal with stuff like that, despite living a minute walk from mam's house I never walked past it for well over a year after she died, while James seems to need to watch what's going on. Neither right or wrong, just different.
I saw Eternals and quite enjoyed it. Not the best Marvel film but not the worst either. I went in knowing no spoilers so was surprised at the first credit scene where all I could think was, Harry Styles is Starfox? The hell!? I mean, he's not a bad actor, but it was such a surprise to see.
All the Christmas adverts are coming out and I'm loving them. The John Lewis one is the one everyone seems to wait for but yet again while it's okay it hasn't blown me away. The Lidl one did make me laugh, though.
I've bought the Costa decorations, and my first new sparkle deer for the herd. But it was black and had lovely gold glittery antlers, it had to come home with me. As did two other deer in uniforms that I genuinely really like.
I had three seasons of Hudson and Rex recorded on my DVR and a week or so ago started to burn my way through them. What a lovely show, full of found family and likeable characters, and of course, Rex, who is all kinds of amazing.
To my amazement, the writer of one of my favourite Musketeer writers recently added a new chapter to a story that was first posted in 2014. It's such a brilliant story and I've been having a re-read, which is taking a while as it's at 331289 words right now. It's a college AU which isn't normally my first choice but the characterisations work so beautifully, and it's full of angst and h/c and miscommunication and hot sex and Aramis/Porthos/Athos loving each other and helping each other and amazing ladies and d'Artagnan being great and just everything. I don't think anyone on my flist actually reads Musketeers and technically it's a WIP but I'll rec anyway. Unus Pro Omnibus, Omnes Pro Uno.
Cherryfeather is also the writer of a blindingly hot Athos/Aramis/Porthos/d'Artagnan/Constance fic and I suspect a reread of all of their work is in my future.

Date: 2021-11-09 04:13 pm (UTC)I should have asked really. If it happens again I will.
It's a fun film, overly long in parts but the action parts were cool, and it was interesting how it tied into the overall Marvel universe. Though at this point I feel the need for a spreadsheet to keep all the characters and how they relate to each other, straight in my head.

Date: 2021-11-10 11:16 am (UTC)What extra amuses me about the Lidl one is they actually sell the ugly jumpers, well in the jumpers in the first scene anyway. They appear to be a brand that can laugh at themselves, which is something I like.

Date: 2021-11-10 11:18 am (UTC)In a way, I wish I'd started Hudson & Rex ages ago, but at least it means I now have lots of eps to watch now. It's a perfect easy watching show, and I love seeing Rex do all the amazing implausible things.

Date: 2021-11-12 08:29 pm (UTC)Yeah, I think I would probably react more like you than James. I would be too fearful that they would make terrible changes. I much rather not know!
Your new sparkly deer sounds very snazzy! I hope we will get to see photos of him and his new deer friends?
Isn't it wonderful when an old story you believed were abandoned forever is suddenly updated?!!!

We have to drive past mam's house when leaving the estate and I didn't even like the glimpses of changes I got then. The house looked so wrong, so yeah, I'm with you in not knowing.
You will see photos of the deer and his deer friends. They're very cute, at least I think so.

It is. I really thought the story would never be updated again. It was such a lovely surprise.

It was such an amazing surprise when that chapter was posted. It was like, bam! Out of nowhere with the author's note of, sorry for the plus 2 years wait. On the re-read it seems they updated often at first, then a chapter every year or so. It may finally be finished in ten years time *g*
