We had a smart gas meter put in yesterday, so now I can be paranoid about gas prices and usage as well as electric usage. Though I didn't think it would happen at all at one point. The gas meter is under the stairs behind the tumble drier, which has a shelf above it that's full of stuff. So I had to move all of that stuff, take the shelf down and haul out the tumbler. The man came, looked outside and said he couldn't fit it as there needed to be some kind of thing fitted to the electric meter outside, and the backing behind that had rotted. So he went away saying he'd be in touch with someone who would eventually come and change the backing.

Half an hour later, it was lucky I was being lazy and hadn't started to put things back as he came back, saying he'd talked to someone who said he didn't actually have to fit the device outside so could actually do the gas meter. So, that was eventually done and late afternoon the house was finally put back to rights.

Today we've been to Re.F.Use where they were doing a wartime food theme due to it being Armistice Day. There was a lot of corned beef and vegetables on the menu. James got corned beef hash and I had a Lord Wolton pie which was boiled root vegetables under a square of pastry, served with more boiled vegetables on the side. While it was edible I can't say it was the tastiest meal I've ever had, but James raved about his corned beef.

After that, we met Kayleigh, Lucy and Bodhi at a garden centre so I could pass on a gift my MiL had bought for Bodhi in the name of my FiL. That's one thing I can say for my MiL, she classes everyone as family no matter how distant and will buy small gifts etc on special occasions. For example, she classes herself as Bodhi's sort of nanna and always buys for Corey's girlfriend even though she's only met her once in four years.

The garden centre we met at was the one where dad fell and broke his hip while I was with him. I've never been back since then as it led to a horrific few weeks where he was stuck in hospital until his death but I figured if I was going to go back the time would be when I was with my gorgeous baby niece. Who typically slept through all the Christmas lights, which most people visit to see.

Along with Hudson & Rex we've started to binge-watch What We Do in the Shadows which is offbeat and funny and makes me laugh often. It seems a dog detective and ridiculous vampires are the perfect combo at the end of the day.
