Nov. 29th, 2021 10:35 amIt's been an interesting few days weather-wise. Storm Arwen hit with a vengeance Friday night, then snow that froze over after that.
Compared to some we got lucky, the fence is down between our house and the neighbour's, but we have a good relationship with them and will go halves to get it fixed once conditions are better. Kayleigh lost loads of her roof tiles, but lives in a local authority house so won't have to pay for that, and the power cut we had was mostly overnight. It's so weird when a whole area loses power, it's so quiet and dark, and when EE's mobile network dropped out for a while that was the icing on the cake. But, at least the power is back now, a lot of people still don't have it.
So many trees are down in town, fences down and so many stories of gazebos and trampolines flying through the air and landing in a heap of twisted metal. Strong wind really is my least favourite weather condition.
Milo was at the vet's on Friday, but thankfully we got home before the storm got bad. I wanted his ears checked and the fact he's still only got a bit of fuzz and a few tufts where he was shaved for his amputation. It's been three months now so I was a bit worried, but apparently, it's just a combination of his age and the fact he was on steroids for so long. The vet was hopeful his fur would grow back eventually, but warned it could take a good while, so he'll just have to rock the balding look. His ears had a minor infection in one, so he's on drops for that, but again, nothing to worry about.
I enjoyed Strictly this week, there were some fabulous dances, my favourites being John and Johannes Argentine Tango And AJ and Kai's AJ and Kai's Couple's Choice. I was also loving Nikita's dancing shirt.
In the last week I've also watched and enjoyed the Bake Off Final and the Drag Race UK final, neither had the winners I wanted but were still enjoyable.
It's B12 injection time tomorrow and I went on the app to order the meds, like I've done for years now, only to find they'd been taken off my repeat prescription. That was Friday night so I spent the weekend wondering what was going on. Phoned this morning and it seems they've changed the process so if you get 3 monthly injections like I do, the meds automatically go to the nurse. Which is a better system, but it would have been nice to be told in advance.

Date: 2021-11-29 05:43 pm (UTC)it's natural to worry about older guys with health concerns, so it's good to hear Milo's doing ok

Date: 2021-11-29 06:39 pm (UTC)For his age, Milo is doing really well. The vet wants him to have a blood test in about a month to keep an eye on his kidney levels, but otherwise, he's rocking his old age.

Date: 2021-11-30 04:49 am (UTC)It's so frustrating how bureaucratic systems like medical ones never think to keep the actual person affected in the loop.

Date: 2021-12-01 12:13 am (UTC)How annoying that you weren't told about the prescription, that strikes me as an easy thing for them to communicate, but at least it's now a system that makes sense.
We got super lucky here with Arwen, but I know that elsewhere had it really bad - I'm glad it wasn't worse for you. I was trying to think of previous Red weather events and can only think of the snow one in 2018, but none before that I think.

Date: 2021-12-14 02:33 pm (UTC)Yep. I'm looking forward to the Strictly finale. I'm not surprised at all about the people who are in it.
The prescription was so weird. It does make sense to cut out the middle man and let the nurse pick up the meds, but why they didn't say that was happening I don't know.
I really hope we don't get any more red weather any time soon. Strong wind is the worst.

Date: 2021-12-02 03:53 pm (UTC)Poor Milo having an ear infection and still being bald. It sounds like both will be taken care of which is all to the good.
How very strange that you weren't informed of the change with your B12 meds.

Date: 2021-12-12 03:36 pm (UTC)The storm we had was rated as a red warning level, which we haven't had in this area for a very long time. Some poor people still don't have their electricity back due to power lines being destroyed. I'm really glad storms like that don't happen often.
Milo's fur situation is so weird. He has so much fuzz and long tufts, like spots of his skin are growing fur but the majority have given up.
I really don't know why they didn't say my meds were changing. It makes sense how it happens now, but I was so confused at the time.
