Dec. 11th, 2021 10:23 amWe did go to see Clifford the Big Red Dog yesterday and for the first time ever, were the only people in the screen. That was fun and a bit weird and I really enjoyed the film. I was watching an interview with Jack Whitehall last night and he was saying in the US Clifford is a big thing, sort of like Paddington here, so I didn't have that cultural element. I just really enjoyed a film about a huge red dog and the people around it.
Masks are mandatory in the cinema again, but that wasn't an issue as we'd never stopped wearing them anyway.
It was a lovely winter early evening when we left the cinema, cold but that nice brisk kind of cold that comes with sun, not the bitter biting kind. I wanted to get a photo of the big Christmas tree with the castle in the background but a group of students were doing a shopping photoshoot so we watched them for a while before heading home.
Got back and some parcels had been delivered. I'd bought a cheap bundle from Yankee Bundles so now have enough scented Christmas Yankees to last well into the new year, probably months into the new year tbh. You have no choice on scent, just they're from the festive range. But thankfully I liked the ones I was sent. Cherries on Snow especially smells good.
I meant to post this yesterday but forgot. So many bad things have happened this last year so some good that doesn't directly relate to me but made me happy. Four months ago a cat from Murphy's rescue escaped from its new owner of a few days. It was an ex feral so scared, didn't know its name yet and still young. The owner of the rescue put out fliers and many members of the group went out looking in the area, but she was nowhere to be found.
Two days ago, on the private adopter's group, someone linked to a general FB post asking if anyone knew the owner of a cat they'd seen. They'd included a photo, and it was the escaped cat.
The shelter owner went to the area and left traps, and a day later the escaped cat had been caught, checked over and was after a couple of days to be watched over, was going back to its owner.
And just, it had been four months when most people had expected the worst long ago and sometimes it's worth reminding yourself good things still do and can happen.

Date: 2021-12-11 02:45 pm (UTC)Ohh nice, we do like Yankee stuff but usually get melts over the candles
Oh that is good news! That’s amazing that they’d survived outside for four months like that.

Date: 2021-12-13 08:37 am (UTC)I usually get the Yankee melts too as they're cheaper and smell great.
Yeah, it really is amazing. I couldn't believe it when the post went up she'd been found.

Date: 2021-12-11 06:42 pm (UTC)We're back with mask mandates in public spaces come Monday, yay!
I love Yankee Candle! It's a given that if I walk in that store I'm walking out with candles. *g* (It's funny that when I looked up Yankee Bundles, they have a website separate from Yankee Candle even though they're bundles of Yankee Candle candles. o_O)
It's wonderful that kitty was found and is okay.

Date: 2021-12-13 08:35 am (UTC)The Covid situation seems to be one step forward, two steps back lately. I'm glad masks are mandatory again here as so many people stopped using them at all.
I have a feeling Yankee Bundles must get older Yankees and have a licence to sell them on. I know they're much cheaper than the official site. Like you I love a Yankee candle. They smell so good, so much better than the cheap non-brand ones.
I was so happy to read the cat had been found :D

Date: 2021-12-12 08:03 pm (UTC)Brisk but sunny is the best winter weather!
I wish I could use scented candles - so many of scents sound delicious - but sadly they just made make my nose clog up and my eyes itch.
That's such heartwarming news!

Date: 2021-12-13 08:28 am (UTC)Yeah, when it's brisk but sunny I can understand why winter holidays are popular. Not so much when it's sleeting or raining and horribly cold.
That is a shame you can't use candles. I really like mine and they make the house look so cheery.
It was excellent news!
