Dec. 22nd, 2021 12:55 pmI got lovely cards from
nopseud and R,
saba1789,
bettina,
spasticat and
shadowhive thank you for thinking of me ♥
It was James' weekday day off yesterday and as he's working Christmas Eve, we did all our last minute things and present exchanges yesterday.
We went to Sunderland to pick up the last presents, then met up with my SiL to pick up some big gifts for her that needed collecting at a shop and delivered them to her house. Drove to Company where there was a distinct lack of stock and had my mind played with by M&S who sent me an email that a present we were due to pick up after midday would be delayed for at least 48 hours and then, half an hour later, got an email to say it was ready to pick up.
Went to M&S and got the gift, Home Bargains, Pets at Home to stock up on litter. Came home, wrapped the last minute presents while James strung some decorations he'd made.
Dropped off presents at Pauline and got some in return. While there she said how worried she was she'd been unable to find plastic farm animals for her great-grandson. So asked if she'd tried online. Nope, she hadn't. So we found some, reserved them at Argos for her and agreed to pick them up.
Drove to my SiLs for another present exchange and a rather tense visit as her boiler had sprung a leak and water was coming down the wall.
Left there and went to Argos which was in a Sainsburys meaning a long queue, so I left James snoozing in the car while I did that as at this point it was pitch black and cold and he was running out of spoons to stand a long time.
Came home again and the bottom dropped out of a gift bag so presents everywhere. But we got them into the house, where it was cold as no heating had been on so had an early night.
But, bar a quick visit to Lidl tomorrow, which is literally over the road to my house, for buns and cream, everything is done. Which is kind of amazing. Kayleigh, Lucy and Bodhi are coming here Friday to exchange presents, but other than that I'll have a very quiet Christmas Eve. Especially so as Corey still doesn't know if he's working or not. Best case he's not and James will pick him up after work, otherwise, he'll get picked up Christmas day and just stay over one night. Which is better than none, so I'm not complaining.
Away from listing my day, we went to see Spider-Man: No Way Home at the weekend and I thought it was great. I was so glad I knew no spoilers going in as I was surprised quite a few times.
And ha, Kayleigh's best friend has just knocked and dropped off presents for Bodhi knowing they're visiting on Friday. (The best friend's sister is our next-door neighbour so it makes sense time-wise.) Kayleigh told everyone not to get much for B as they have a small house that's bursting at the seams already. Looking at the presents I need to pass over I suspect that message hasn't sunk in.

Date: 2021-12-22 07:31 pm (UTC)I'm glad you enjoyed the movie! So many I want to see, but I still don't trust the theaters, especially in this county.
I felt the same way about buying for my great-nephew, so spoke to his mother and for his birthdays we're going to give her money to put in the account they have for him. With a book, 'cause he loves to read and I can't give him ~nothing. *g*

Date: 2021-12-23 07:30 am (UTC)The movie was fantastic. I'm glad I went to see it as I suspect more measures will be put into place after Christmas which may lead to cinema closures again. I hope not, but this new variant has started to explode number wise.
That's a good idea about money, and yeah, I totally get the need to give something. As suggested by Kayleigh we bought a starter swing for Bodhi as while they have a small house they have a huge garden. Otherwise, they did ask for money for her savings account. But like I said in my post, and looking at the gifts from other people I have to hand over, she's going to be buried in clothes and toys.

That's very true!
