The Snowflake Challenge starts soon. It's a challenge I love a lot, especially as it's so low pressure.
I'm actually helping mod this year, which is a little daunting as I haven't done any modding for a very long time. But, I encourage everyone to check out the challenge when it starts, or read here and if it looks like it's something that interests you, give it a go.
I got an excellent parcel from
I'm also waiting for another parcel with my coffee fix. I occasionally order from Approved Food which is an online discount shop that sells short-dated products. They had an excellent special on coffee pods before Christmas, and they're being delivered today. Quite a lot of them so I'll be stocked for a while.
The meet-up at Pauline's went well yesterday. It was only me, my brother and his kids and Pauline, but she put on a small buffet and we got to catch up and it was just relaxed and nice. The bonus being my brother picked me up and took me home, even though I was willing to bus it there and back.
My MiL arrives to spend a few days tonight so I need to get to moving stuff around so she's got clear paths to the toilet, kitchen etc. It won't take long but all my motivation has got up and gone today.
Kayleigh had cat issues yesterday
Her oldest cat, Mr Tumnus is really old, around 18 and she really thought he was dying. He has thyroid issues but it turns out it had got much worse and he's now on double the meds than before. Then when she got him home he pee'ed blood all over the floor. But he'd had his urine tested and it was clear, and his other bloods apart from thyroid were okay too, so they think he was nicked while taking the urine sample. Still, it must have been horrible to see. And when she first started messaging I really thought he wouldn't last the day.
Yesterday I also phoned the PDSA to make sure arrangements had gone ahead for Pansy to be cremated. Apparently, she was picked up on Christmas Eve, so hopefully, her ashes will be home in the next week or so. She's a miss, even though she spent most of her time upstairs she was always watching on the stairs when I came home and hung out when I had a bath and came for a cuddle on the bed at night. Earlier I came across the Dreamies Cracker we'd bought for her Christmas present and it was a heart clench moment.

Date: 2021-12-31 08:27 pm (UTC)Your gifts from Kimberly sounds awesome! She always sends such wonderful stuff.
I hope you got your coffee fix!
Good to hear you'd a nice meetup at Pauline's.
I hope you're having a great New Year's!
That must have been so scary for Kayleigh! I see from your comment to ephemera that Mr Tumnus is doing better. I'll keep my fingers crossed for him.
*hugs you a lot*

Date: 2021-12-31 09:41 pm (UTC)I'm glad the time at Pauline's went well and Mr Tumnus is doing okay - it's worrying when they're venerable cats <3.
I saw that you were down as a mod for snowflake and was so pleased to see it, you'll be so good <3

Date: 2022-01-01 09:20 am (UTC)The gifts were awesome. I like the slippers have a chunky sole so there's no issue going outside to the bin etc.
I did get my coffee fix. I now have about 20 boxes of pods stacked behind the kitchen door, so that'll keep me going for months.
I did have a nice New Year, quite as always but that's how I like it.
Kayleigh had a terrible time with Mr Tumnus. She was on a nightshift at work and Lucy has hurt her back so there was no way she could take the cat carrier plus baby to the emergency vet. I did say we'd take him but Kayleigh decided to wait until Simply Cats opened and she'd finished work. But until then I do think she'd expected him to die overnight.
Thankfully, he has perked up and no peed blood, so positive signs.

Date: 2022-01-08 11:24 am (UTC)I get it. All I have are heart clench moments anymore. And I'm getting morbid with it, too: Hugo loved to sit on my bed pillow and I would pretend-grumble and say to him, "really? You really need to drag your filthy ass across all my possessions, huh?" and, yes, yes he really did. So, long story short, I had a minor meltdown the first time I had to change out the pillowcases. I seriously considered not doing it, and just sleeping on the last one he befouled for...ever? Forever. (Like I said, morbid.)

No, I completely get it. Pansy liked to sleep on the bed in the spare room and I was in there the other day and saw she must have thrown up at some point and it had been hidden by the Christmas boxes. It broke my heart to wash that cover because it was part of her, but at the same time, it was still cat puke so needed to be done. I won't even talk about the times I cried hoovering up cat hair from Tinker and Freesia.
So yeah. Solidarity.
