Dec. 31st, 2021 09:41 amMy day didn't end how I expected yesterday.
Late afternoon I realised I had a deep cramp in my right calf, did the online 111 thing and realised I should go get it checked out. Headed to the nearest walk-in, and left over 6 hours later.
The first three hours were spent at the minor injuries unit where it was eventually decided that it wasn't cellulitis but they wanted to rule out a blood clot. But the blood test to investigate that could only happen in the casualty unit.
Thankfully that was literally the next department across, and despite being told it was a 5-hour wait I was actually seen pretty fast and then had to settle in for another two-hour wait as they ran the test. I was talking to the nurse practitioner who did the test and they said it would be five hours if I needed to see a doctor, but if not it would be much faster.
Anyway, I'm fine, nothing bad at all in any of the tests that were ran so they decided it must be muscular. Though typically, I was reading Facebook while waiting and one of my lymphoedema groups had someone ask if others got cramps in their calves and a lot of people said said that yeah, and often it was due to dehydration and that affecting the lymph affected limbs. So it could also be a lymphoedema thing. Whatever it is, it's not a blood clot, which is the important thing.
Of course, both my MiL and James are fretting, understandably due to my FiL dying due to a clot. And I have instructions to rest today, even though I feel fine apart from an aching leg.
As it was after 11 when we left the hospital my MiL said it was pointless going to get her and she'd stay at ours another time. Which is fair enough even though James would have went for her after work today. Especially so as I have enough food in for three people.
So yes, an unexpectedly quiet end of the year for me it seems.

Date: 2021-12-31 03:53 pm (UTC)When I saw the first nurse practitioner she said that due to excess fluid it would be hard to see any blood clot, or to clearly see the veins during a scan so I was wondering what the heck they'd do in that case. So I was very glad the blood test was clear and a scan wasn't needed at all.
Ah, I'm sorry you had to do that. Though the way cases are skyrocketing is probably for the best. I hope you're going to be quiet doing fun things though and not work.

Date: 2021-12-31 06:07 pm (UTC)Yay for a quiet end to the year?
(We don't do much celebrating on NYE. Pip likes his college football and neither of us like to stay up late. I stirred together a veggie dip yesterday so we'll have veggies and dip, and I'm going to make a spinach artichoke dip which we both love. That's it for the celebrating. *g* Oh, and I'll have some cream soda, lol!)

Date: 2021-12-31 09:16 pm (UTC)A shame that it had to happen the day before New Year's, messing up your plans. I hope you're having a nice evening anyway. Take care of yourself!
PS Happy New Year in advance!

Date: 2022-01-01 05:44 pm (UTC)But yeah, I didn't mind a quiet end to the year.
Honestly, I don't do much celebrating either and like the sound of your plans. I always put on some buffet type food so we can graze, stay up to midnight to watch the fireworks and that's it. I was in bed by ten past twelve and asleep by quarter past I think.

Date: 2022-01-01 05:46 pm (UTC)The timing wasn't great at all. I feel for my MiL as she was all packed sitting waiting to be picked up when James phoned and said it probably wasn't going to happen.
Thank you! And to you, too.

Date: 2022-01-01 05:48 pm (UTC)I had a very quiet New Year, buffet food, some Hotel Chocolat chocolate caramel creme to drink and watching The Last Leg on TV. I enjoyed it all.
I hope you had a good evening too.

Honestly, I have such a love of bodega cats now. It's ridiculous how much I like the idea of them.
