Snowflake Challenge Eight

In your own space, celebrate a personal win from the past year: it can be a list of fanworks you're especially proud of, a gift of your time to the community, a quality or skill you cultivated in yourself, something you generally feel went well. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
I haven't really got anything stand out fannish wise, but I did think of a personal win.
Most of you know we've had trouble with vets bills over the last few years. Four elderly cats, all of whom developed medical issues within years of each other after a lifetime of no issues at all.
Stupidly, they weren't insured -- Murphy very much is, the best and most comprehensive coverage you can get -- and the vet bills just kept getting more and more. Thankfully our vet was good at letting us pay in instalments, but you know, it was still money that needed to be paid and we're easily talking multiple thousands now between them all.
Then Milo broke his leg last year and all that happened and I had some incredible friends who helped with the PDSA bill and cleared that, and I will never ever forget their kindness when life was so horrible, but Simply Cats remained outstanding.
My actual job is James' carer and I get carers allowance for that, but for years I've done online surveys etc. Last year I stepped it up and kept on applying for online stuff, nothing exciting, transcription, reviewing adds, using my lovely accent to teach Alexa type devices to understand everyone.
I recorded phrases, I did thousands of surveys, I learnt how to use Slack even thought I don't like instant messaging. I got a regular job, though sadly you can only do it for a year, where I evaluate Facebook ads, and have done that every day for months now. And all of that money added together.
After I make a payment tomorrow, I need to make two more and the vets bill will be completely cleared.
I know I'm getting ahead of myself celebrating now, but I did that, and can't help feeling proud.

Date: 2022-01-16 05:24 pm (UTC)Considering Milo is now with the PDSA and Murphy fully insured, I suspect I'll be dancing when I phone in that last payment in a few months time.

Date: 2022-01-17 11:00 am (UTC)It's scary how fast vet bills add up. Each time any of the cats saw a vet it was £60 and that was without any treatment, tests or medicine. Add those on and I was looking at around £200 each time.

Date: 2022-01-17 11:36 am (UTC)Sadly I only have two cats now, Milo the elder three-legged legend who just keep on going, and Murphy who's only 2 and fully insured.
Hopefully, both of them will be well from now on.

Date: 2022-01-25 04:34 pm (UTC)The vet costs are ridiculous, just one visit would always cost £100 plus so it soon added up.
