turpsI had such a good time at the theatre last night. I can honestly say Beauty and the Beast is up there as the favourite stage show I've seen.
We had really good seats which helped, middle aisle stall, row P so about halfway back and I had a totally uninterrupted view apart from the top of the woman's head in front blocking a tiny bit of the stage.
Also got some seat drama when a group of four women came in just before the start, saw people in their seats and went to get the theatre manager who had to get those people to move. They were in the right row but had chanced it by moving along to the middle instead of the far side where they were supposed to sit.
I loved the staging of the show, and how they did changes by basically blinding the audience with flashes. The Be Our Guest section was incredible, one of the most uplifting and vibrant things I've seen on stage, and I have to admit to a tear at the Tale As Old as Time section as Beauty and Beast danced. Also when Mrs Potts was reunited with boy Chip.
I loved the streamers that exploded over the audience at one point, the booming lightning flashes, the set-up of the stage. Everything.
The actor playing Gaston was fab and stayed nicely in character when he was booed at the end while Lumiere and Cogsworth were a great double act. It was Sam Bailey as Mrs Potts who got the biggest cheer though.
I'd go see the show again in an instant, and no doubt would come out again wondering how the young boy playing Chip was folded inside the trolley he was pushed around on.

I was looking to see what's coming up and really fancy seeing Footloose in June, that'll be a good time. If we start phoning the ticket line now we may even get through before then.
James was talking to my MiL yesterday and she wanted to pay for us to go on holiday for a week with them all to Butlins. Now, I like Butlins and spent a lot of happy holidays there as a kidlet and also took Corey when he was young. I'd actually like to go there again, but there's no way James can get a full weeks worth of annual leave in August which is when they're going.
So, she said she'll pay for us to go away overnight instead at some point, which is fair enough. I suspect she would have been hoping James could drive her down as with her mobility issues going by train is going to be a nightmare. But again, not a chance of a week in August at this stage.
