Look around your current space, whether digital or brick-n-mortar. Post a pic or description of:
1. a fannish item
My bobblehead shelf. Amazingly standing up today as Murphy likes to knock them down.

2. something round
My SiL bought me these for Christmas, there's another one not in shot. I need to think what to put in them as two are totally empty.

3. something that is your favorite color
I like the colour yellow and this was the closest thing nearby that has yellow in it.

4. the last game you played (video, phone, table top, etc.)
I started playing The Simpsons Tapped Out when I first got my iPad which is over 8 years ago now. My Springfield is pretty big but with every update I worry my iPad won't be new enough to support it. That happened last month with the new download of a Disney Magic Kingdoms game I'd been playing for a similar amount of time and now I can't play any more :(

5. a book you are currently reading
I considered going to get a different book, but this is what I am reading downstairs. I got a load of Christmas books from a second-hand shop and am still working my way through them. They're the book form of a popcorn film to me.

6. album art of the first song that comes up on shuffle
I have no idea how to shuffle my Spotify so have a mix that was playing last.

7. the last movie you watched
At the cinema, it was West Side Story.

8. TV show you're currently watching
I've been catching up on the latest season of Legends of Tomorrow.

9. the homescreen, lockscreen, or desktop wallpaper from your device
I have to be honest, I haven't actually used anything personal, just use one loaded on my phone.

Date: 2022-01-29 11:25 am (UTC)Those lighthearted books are great for dipping in and out of. Half the time I'll forget what happened in them within days, but that's fine. They're just gentle word entertainment and do what they have to do :)

Date: 2022-01-29 10:26 pm (UTC)Christmas media makes me happy. Though I do hope I've finished my stack of books before it gets warm.

Date: 2022-01-30 04:04 pm (UTC)Ooh the jars are lovely and so you! So, you need things to go in them that need general corralling, but that aren't more faff to empty and refill than just using their original container (and it looks like they're more "office" than "kitchen" or "bathroom"? If you do the tealight thing, that might be quite a nice thing to store, it might be quite nice to use one as a gratitude jar (if that's something that works for you, it doesn't work for me, but they're a lovely idea) or a memory jar (ticket stubs, that kind of thing).

Date: 2022-01-30 05:04 pm (UTC)You're so right. I enjoy reading lots of things but often I just want to escape into a world where everything is cosy and a happy ending is guaranteed.
The jars are lovely, my SiL got it very right this year.
I agree, they are more office-like and funnily enough, the one not in shot I've been using to store the tea lights on my fireplace. I also like the idea of a memory jar. In fact, now you've inspired me to search out my theatre tickets and put them in one of the jars. They're not something I look at often, but I still like to keep them as memories.
Thank you for the suggestions.

Date: 2022-02-18 02:27 pm (UTC)I know what you mean by how disappointing it is when old games become unplayable. I don't play a lot of games but there was this stupid game where monkeys shoot balloons (Bloons Tower Defense 3) that I used to play every now and then to relax, but it's was a flash based game and therefore no longer available :((( There are new versions - I think up to 6 now? - but I don't have the energy to learn a new one, I just want to mindlessly enjoy the old one! But no.

I totally get it. The games I play aren't complicated at all, they're also mindless, a lot of poking at the screen but they're something I enjoy in a very non-thinking way. I miss my Disney game and am sure at one point The Simpsons will go the same way :(
