Thank you [personal profile] misbegotten for the lovely Alice postcard. You're lovely thinking of me.

If I'm ever tempted to say things are going well again, tell me to shut up as it'll inevitably go wrong not long after.

My computer packed up again two days ago, blue screen of death again. It's insured, but no way could I cope with another three weeks wait, especially with my MiL due here again at the weekend. I had intended to pay off the vet bill this month, but instead got myself a new base unit, because as much as it pains me to pay that, I would have lost money by not being able to get online properly too.

We dropped my old computer off today and as it was only fixed last summer the assistant said there's a possibility it may be written off and I'm given store credit for it. Never would I have imagined I'd want my computer to be written off, but here we are.

The new computer is working beautifully and I didn't actually realise how much the old one was snagging until I wasn't dealing with that. I also had to deal with 90k of emails being downloaded when I reinstalled Thunderbird, which was fun.

My MiL is coming back Sunday night, James suggested we pick her up first thing Monday morning, but she said the workpeople would be there from 8 and she might not be able to get out. So, Sunday it is. He also mentioned that it should only take three days to do the wet room. She said five. I said nothing.

James had his CT scan on Tuesday and as expected it was a two-hour wait for me as they tried to get someone who could get the cannula situated right. He did phone to warn he was a nightmare in terms of finding veins but they seemed sure they could get it done. As I said, two hours, many nurses, him getting wrapped in blankets and a waiting room of people having to wait way past their appointments until finally, they got a specialist from anaesthesia, suggests they should listen to him.

I went to get my new compression wraps on Monday and they hadn't even been ordered. They did so then but I suspected they'd order the wrong size like last time. Went today and sure enough, instead of checking the letter from the lymph clinic they'd just ordered something else and also hadn't ordered the velcro shoes, I need for the bandaging in May. The receptionist went out of her way today to get them ordered but still, it's going to be a month since I ordered them the first time.

By way of distraction and James feeling better but not up to much physical walking we've been using our Odeon Unlimited card a lot, seeing four films in a week.

Dog -- pretty good and I always enjoy some Channing Tatum.

Uncharted -- Such great fun and Tom Holland was great.

The Duke -- Also a lot of fun and even more so as the women behind us seemed to think it was the funniest film ever and cackled throughout.

The Batman -- at nearly 3 hours, too long but I liked it. It also showed racoon eyes and long stingy hair still does it for me and I quite liked uber woobie and emo Batman with his frozen expression, side-eyes and the delicious thought including Batman, Catwoman and pegging. Sadly not in the film but in my head regardless.

Oh no, what a load of frustrations! I hope the new computer serves you well and that the store comes through with some credit for the old one.

And I hope your MiL's stay passes as smoothly as it can.

And what rigmaroles for both James and you. I hope the third time is the charm for the wrap order!!

I think the psychological need for downtime doesn't have to conform to reason! ♥

Never say that. The universe lays in wait for sentences like that, just so it can leap out of the shadows and shaft you!

Tom Holland film, you say? I have very much liked his choices recently, so that I may definitely have to have a look at.

I frequently want my media consumption to be brainless, bubblegum fun to be honest - most of the Tom Holland stuff I'm thinking of is exactly that. But he always plays his characters so earnestly that I do enjoy watching him perform.

I was going to say that if the new Batman included him getting pegged by Catwoman I would've gone to see it just for that. Alas... Good luck with the various medical things. And yay for new computer!

Sucks about your computer, but I'm glad you were able to get a new one that works so much faster! And hopefully store credit!

He also mentioned that it should only take three days to do the wet room. She said five. I said nothing.

Is it bad this made me chuckle? But why would it be five, that's longer than the last time estimate, no?

Why do medical folk never listen?!! A lesson learned, but a pain for you both.

Also a pain with the wraps and boots order! I hope they get it right this time.

Yay for movies! I'm glad you enjoyed them.

I feel for you! Having the computer die on me would be such a nightmare. I'm glad to hear the new one is working well for you and I'll keep my fingers crossed it will continue to do so for many years to come!

I hope things are well with you otherwise.
