Apr. 19th, 2022 10:10 amAs Easter weekends it has been a nice one.
Saturday we visited Corey in Newcastle and dropped him off some chocolate. Over two days went to the cinema and saw Sonic 2 and Lost City. I really liked the second, it's a popcorn film but I have a soft spot for Channing Tatum and the film made me laugh at points, so win.
We had an excellent whoopsie haul from Asda. We'd gone in the late afternoon Saturday and as the shops were shut Sunday they were reducing a lot of fresh stuff down to 20p each. The woman doing the reductions was great, encouraging people to take it as it all needed to go, and when I commented I was thrilled at getting some 20p veggie items started loading a load of other stuff in my trolley. So just offhand I got veggie kievs, burgers, sausages, wraps, non pork pork pies, stir fry strips, pancakes, so much stuff that thankfully I could wedge into the freezer.
Then yesterday Company was selling the good quality sandwiches and it actually cost less to get those for James' bait than it would have done to get the stuff to make them. So our fridge looks very well stocked right now. Not sure if they'll last in terms of freshness until Friday though. But if they don't, sandwiches for tea I guess.
Before Company we did our usual breakfast at Tim Hortons, which was weird but nice. Admittedly it was a bank holiday but when we got there just after 8 there wasn't a customer in the place apart from two older teens who'd stretched out on the couches and were apparently sleeping off a long night. They weren't bothering anyone and it was sunny so the whole place was warm and quiet and it was just nice to sit and have breakfast with it being so calm.
Then in the afternoon, we picked up some plants. We go to the same guy every year, it's not his job, he just loves growing stuff and then sells plants for 50p or £1 so it's a cheap way to get extra plants. Of course, as I also grow my own it's why I always end up with far too many plants, but I'd rather too many than too few. The garden is starting to look nice, the seedlings are in the greenhouse and I've got rid of all the leaves and old broken planters and then bought some flame effect solar lights from B&M which look pretty great at night.
We were also going to call in at the big boot sale on the coast but entry was £5 a person, and I think not.
Finally, one afternoon we spent with Kayleigh, Lucy and Bodhi. They'd been doing an Easter photoshoot with Bodes and really

Date: 2022-04-20 06:41 am (UTC)Kayleigh made Bodhi's hat, and was very proud of it. Though the garden was littered with chicks that wouldn't stick on fully *g*

Date: 2022-04-20 06:39 am (UTC)Oh yes, I agree with what you said about Sandra. I skimmed my review but I also loved how a serious story about loss and the difficulty in letting go was wrapped in humour and ridiculous scenes. Sandra also rocked that sparkly suit. She looked amazing, even when kicking ass in the jungle.
She really is ♥

Date: 2022-04-20 06:37 am (UTC)Oh me too! What I liked best was the lady wouldn't let a scrum happen either, just cheerfully reduced and encouraged people to take what they wanted but also let others have a look.
Bodhi has her mams wrapped around her little finger already. She had a great first Easter.

Date: 2022-04-20 06:34 am (UTC)I have to admit, it's nice to just pick out ready-made sandwiches in the morning, it's so much easier than making the things.
Bodhi had the best day, and seemed to enjoy gumming at the chocolate eggs.

Date: 2022-04-20 08:02 pm (UTC)You definitely timed your visit to Asda right!
That's so cool you can get plants for so little! Sounds like you're garden is all set for the growing season. I hope everything you've planted will grow and flourished!
Awww, those photos are adorable! She looks like she's snickering evilly in the first one, so cute!

Date: 2022-04-21 02:09 pm (UTC)The timing was perfect at Asda. The fridge and freezer are still looking very healthy.
All the seedlings are coming on nicely and it's good to see the more established plants I bought too. Mostly they're for the Shirley variety of tomatoes that my dad loved. I've always bought them as they always remind me of him.
She does look like she's snickering eveilly. Probably why I like it so much *g*

Date: 2022-04-22 01:17 pm (UTC)I can't believe they charge to get into a sale?
Those photos are adorable! I love her smile, but I also love the pose in the second.
OT: Can I pick your brain about cat cafes? You mentioned it recently and I'm writing for a reversebb and the idea popped into my head and my artist loved it and now I'm doing research because I've never been to one. Would you share some of your experiences and how the cafe is laid out? (It may be different from the US where the cats have to be kept in a separate room from food prep, but I'd like to get an idea.) No worries if you don't have the time. I'll manage with google in that case. *g*

Date: 2022-04-22 01:30 pm (UTC)I couldn't believe they charged either, especially that much.
They are adorable, I'm enjoying seeing her grow so much.
Of course I can share. If it's okay I'll email you later this afternoon. I've still got your address from Snowflake.
