May. 19th, 2022 01:43 pmMy appointment is at 3 today so I'm sitting waiting to be picked up in about an hour. I have to say, I much prefer morning appointments and getting things over and done with.
No doubt I'll talk more when it's done but already the bandaging is making a difference, so much so that the bandages eventually slide down daily. The nurse is saying that's a good thing as it means the fluid is being shifted, but it is annoying. Still can't get the shoes to fit right either, so I'm wearing two of James' stump socks on my feet while I'm inside/in the garden. They're big, keep the bandages clean and really, whatever works.
Talking about James, he messaged from work to say he'd just had a regular meeting with Oc Health and they're going to look at part-time home working for him, mostly for the times when he's well enough to work but not to travel to work where he has no personal help. No idea if or when it'll happen but the first steps have been taken.
He also said he'd just got a text message to say he's got an appointment to see the back doctor on Monday morning. He needs the nerves reburning so it's good to get the appointment where no doubt that will be set up, but man, the timing is not good.
On a lighter note, I went to make his bait this morning and the container of what I thought was tuna and sweetcorn sandwich filling was actually tuna and sweetcorn pasta. So he went with cheese and slightly wrinkly tomato sandwiches instead.
I watched the penultimate ep of This Is Us this morning. It made me cry. I knew it would make me cry—stupid show.

Date: 2022-05-19 03:30 pm (UTC)That would be great if he could work from home on those days! (Does he not like the tuna and pasta?)

Date: 2022-05-20 06:08 am (UTC)I hope they do come through with the WFH option for James. I have been so grateful to be able to switch to that in these pandemic years - when you can do your work virtually, it's so useful to not have to deal with the logistics of commuting and being onsite.

Date: 2022-05-20 06:43 am (UTC)I'm glad the bandaging is working, but it sounds like a hassle! I hope it'll not be so annoying for long.

Date: 2022-05-20 06:45 am (UTC)James being able to homework, even part-time would be great. It would save nearly two hours in commute time daily, and that's without the fact his workplace still continues to get regular Covid outbreaks, simply because so many people work there. I'm glad you have that option.

Date: 2022-05-20 06:49 am (UTC)James does like tuna and pasta, just he's got into a habit of eating sandwiches at his desk as it's easier. The tuna and pasta will get eaten for tea or dinner either today or tomorrow. So, no cooking for me, which is a bonus.

Date: 2022-05-20 06:59 am (UTC)Exactly! Yesterday afternoon was a write off simply because I couldn't get stuck into anything before my appointment as I was always aware of time, and then it was heading toward five before I actually got home.
Yeah, hassle is right. Like today, I mentioned earlier in the week how I love baths and was missing them so the nurse said I could take the bandages off, have a quick shower and then go to my appointment for 10:30. But, ideally, I would have to have them off for less than an hour. Being as it takes half an hour to drive there, add on drying time and time to be ready and waiting for my lift, including packing my bag with the moisturiser I have to take and the other set of bandages I have to bring home, wash, dry and roll daily, I'll be under the water for all of a few minutes. It would have been easier to stick with the all over body wash I've been doing.
It will be worth it, but I can't lie, I won't be sorry when I'm done next week.

Date: 2022-05-20 12:10 pm (UTC)Ahh, understood. (I make a macaroni salad without tuna to have with burgers, or whatever, but when I want to make the mac salad a meal, I add tuna. So good. *g*)
Double yay for no cooking! \o/

Date: 2022-05-20 05:51 pm (UTC)It's wonderful to hear the bandaging is already making a difference! And I fully support your choice to wear socks whenever you can instead of ill-fitting shoes!
I'll keep everything crossed James will be able to work from home part of the time!

Date: 2022-05-21 03:05 pm (UTC)But yeah, I'm loving all the new MCR stuff. It's amazing that suddenly we have all this new content.

Date: 2022-05-21 03:12 pm (UTC)The socks work so much better. Though, one of the shoes actually fits much better now, so much so I'm only using tape on it for extra reassurance. So, hopefully that's a good sign.
Part time home working would be ideal for him. I really don't know why they haven't investigated it again a long time before now.
