I got a postcard from misbegotten thank you so much! It's always lovely to be thought of ♥

We went to see Everything Everywhere At Once at the cinema yesterday and I thought it was fantastic. James hated it, fell asleep and I had to elbow him many times when he started to snore. Today we're off to see Top Gun: Maverick. I suspect he won't fall asleep for this one.

Virgin Media have been putting the cables into our estate the last few days, today they've reached our end and what a racket as they dig up the pavements. I came from my appointment and was confronted by barriers stopping me from getting to my house. Thankfully one of the workmen came and let me through with the comment not to tell anyone. But I guess we're getting to the car the long way around now until this is done.

I thought I was coming to the end of my bandaging appointments, turns out I've been booked in until Wednesday next week.

Which is honestly fine. Yeah, it's a big daily time suck and I'm missing my baths and my legs and feet get hot but it's worth it, I can see that daily.

But, my MiL is coming here on Friday evening until Monday evening. It means I won't have my recliner, which is extra helpful at the moment and I also won't have that bath time where I go to have some time to myself each day when I'm hosting.

How long is it possible to stretch out a good wash? Asking for a friend.

Top Gun is amazing! I really do hope you feel comfortable enough to go. It captured my attention all the way through and when the theme music came on I got the hairs on my arms standing up effect.

I'm glad you enjoyed Top Gun so much! The music is definitely going to send me back. *g* It's supposed to rain here all day tomorrow, but if it's not heavy/thunderstorm, I'm definitely going to go!

Oof, it sounds dismaying to be blocked from going home. I'm glad you got to slip through.

And that's an unfortunate combination of still having the bandages and hosting again this weekend. I think the suggestion upthread that maybe you need to lie with your feet up for a while every day, sounds worth pursuing. Or perhaps the treatment is just so tiring that you need a daily nap away in your own room for a while?

The workman who let me through was very nice. Sadly, yesterday they had an actually mini digger on the pavement so I had to go the long way. Today, no sign as of yet so I hope they're done for my immediate area.

I think going for a lie on the bed after my wash is the way to go. I mean, it does take a while to dry off properly, and if I had a bit of a read in that time. Well, I'm just multi-tasking.

Yeah, I'm going to take the advice you all gave and do just that. Lying on the bed fully drying off and reading sounds good to me.

Personally no, as we've never had Virgin. Well, never could have it as they didn't have the cables/fiber in the area to supply a service. For the last few months, they've been doing the whole of the town so I suspect they'll be doing a push for people to sign up soon.

Thankfully they seem to be done with just outside my house. They were there all day yesterday and actually had a barrier up just to the side of my front path. No doubt I'll see where they've moved to when I venture outside.

It makes me so happy to to hear that James is still falling asleep at the cinema - it means ordinary life is finally back on track again after the covid years! Did he keep awake during Top Gun?

I hope Virgin has finished putting down cables for now. Roadworks like that are always so noisy and inconvenient!

Ahahaha, that's very true about life being back to normal. But yes, he did stay awake for Top Gun, and enjoyed every moment.

Thankfully Virgin have finished the cables, but now the workmen are doing jobs like filling holes that Virgin dug up. Thankfully not as noisy but there are still barriers up in spots.
