Jun. 7th, 2022 12:50 pmI had a nice four day Jubilee 'weekend'
I mostly enjoyed watching the concert on Saturday night, especially Adam and Queen, and I thought the clip with The Queen and Paddington was fun.
James did another craft fair on Saturday but it was a bit of a washout. The pub hosted a really busy Jubilee event the day before and apparently forgot to promote the fair the day after, so there was us and three other stalls in the whole place. Plus, James got the time wrong so we turned up at 8 when it didn't even start until 12. But, he made some money and really all we lost was a bit of time and I got to hang out in the back of the car and read in the sunshine.
We also went to see Firebird which I enjoyed a lot, I also liked that there was a filmed Q&A afterwards describing why the film was so important to the writer/director etc. One thing that stuck in my head, one of the main actors couldn't speak English but they were so sure he was the right person they gave him three months to learn, and he did. That's so impressive.
Monday James was back to work and I spent the day getting the house back in order, mopping, hoovering, everything that had slipped a bit the last few weeks.
Today, James tested positive for Covid and is now flaked out on the couch. Thankfully, I'm testing negative but I was supposed to be going to see my Aunt tomorrow with Kayleigh and Bodhi, the first time I would have seen her for over two years, but of course, I can't risk it.
ETA: I've been catching up and not only has the h/c exchange gone live, but someone has written Hardy Boys fic with the dead dove tag. I don't think I've ever clicked a link so fast.

Date: 2022-06-07 12:08 pm (UTC)Is this the same pub that didn't advertise the craft fair before? I'm glad James did well and that you had some reading time.
That movie looks good!
I need to do some vacuuming, too, after being away for the weekend!
I hope James remains symptom-free! And that you remain negative. Bummer you have to miss seeing Kayleigh and Bodhi. *hugs*

Date: 2022-06-07 12:14 pm (UTC)Yep, that's the one. They advertised so well for the event before and then nothing for the fair. I know they're relatively new pub owners but they need to learn everything is important.
The movie was really good and kept my attention all the way through. It's the first time I've been to an event with the Q&A afterwards and I'm glad I stayed as it was interesting.
I'm looking forward to reading about your trip :)
Yeah, it's a pain not going tomorrow but even though I am testing negative there's no way I'd risk going to my aunt's with them.

Date: 2022-06-07 12:14 pm (UTC)Aww that’s a shame it didn’t go so well, the pic you posted on insta had such nice things!
Oh wow that is impressive
Oh no, I hope James will be ok

Date: 2022-06-07 12:18 pm (UTC)Yeah, he does good work and did get some sales but we left early in the end. With only four stalls, one of which left much earlier than us, there was no point staying to the end as the customers just weren't there. Next one is at a different place so should be better.
He's okay for now, feeling a bit off but nothing that can't be dealt with. Just, obviously, he can't go to work until he tests negative again.

Yeah, hopefully it stays at that level *sends good vibes*

Date: 2022-06-07 06:23 pm (UTC)James seems to be sleeping himself better. I can't say I was surprised when he tested positive as his work had another breakout recently. They're really strict with Covid measures still, but with so many people in the building working relatively close, it's so easy to spread.

Date: 2022-06-07 09:26 pm (UTC)I hope James is ok, and only lightly touched by the coronavirus. Good luck staying negative yourself - my Beast remained resolutely negative while I was full of virus.

Date: 2022-06-08 11:21 am (UTC)He asked James if he wants a regular spot but honestly, I think that often is too much. It would be making something he does to relax into a second job to an extent, plus, I'm dubious there are enough people in the area who would want to buy at a craft fair so often.
James is okay so far, mainly a bad cold at the moment. The virus is weird. I know when Kayleigh had it the first time Lucy didn't catch it despite living together, and then you and Beast. Hopefully, I manage to stay virus free too. Once is enough.

Date: 2022-06-07 09:50 pm (UTC)I noticed your picture on Insta with James' work. I noticed an Owl picture (I think, or maybe a box?). I was thinking if you have Paypal, I would like that one? I could send you the cost and shipping.
I hope James doesn't get bad Covid and that you can avoid it!

Date: 2022-06-08 11:16 am (UTC)I'll email you so I'm getting the right thing but James says consider the owl as a gift.
And he's doing okay, thankfully more like a bad cold right now and I'm still fine. So, fingers crossed it stays that way.

Date: 2022-06-08 12:40 pm (UTC)Brian looked like he was loving his life, and I was loving his jacket.
James is doing okay, thankfully it seems he's got a mild version which is good.

Date: 2022-06-09 07:45 am (UTC)It sounds nice that you got to have peaceful hangout time during the craft fair, even if there wasn't the turnout you hoped for. Hopefully James's work will find its right audience nevertheless!

Date: 2022-06-09 03:42 pm (UTC)It does suck about the visit, I'm fine but I really couldn't take the risk of sitting in a car with Bodhi and Kayleigh for 30 mins and then spending time with my aunt. But, I'll catch up with them all soon I hope.
I did like sitting in the back of the car and having a good read. That was a plus to the day.

Date: 2022-06-09 03:39 pm (UTC)It seems to be staying mild so far, though he's pretty much been welded to the couch for the last two days. But the rest won't hurt.
And I'm fine. *touch wood*

Date: 2022-06-09 05:47 pm (UTC)Poor James! I hope he only has a very mild case and will soon be well again.
I hope you found some cool fics to read in the h/c exchange!

Date: 2022-06-09 05:52 pm (UTC)He does seem to have a mild case, tired and wheezing when he walks, but certainly nothing worrying.
Sadly nope, the exchange didn't seem to have as many stories as usual, and the ones they did were for fandoms I don't read. But there's always next year.
