It was Kayleigh and Lucy's first wedding anniversary yesterday. Which means it was also the anniversary of the first time I had to give a speech, which remains one of the most terrifying things I've ever done.

Murphy's insurance gave us a shock this week when they sent an email saying they weren't going to pay his claim as it was a double claim, which was a wait, what?! moment. Especially as the bill was nearly £700. I got in contact with the vet asap and they think because employees of PetPlan are still home-based they'd somehow messed up, one person paying the claim, meaning someone else tried only to find out it had already been claimed, leading to that email and that shock.

Murphy also caught a mouse a few days ago, so way to go him. He's been very intent on watching behind the fridge for a while so it wasn't a surprise when I came downstairs one morning and saw a dead mouse, thankfully, fully intact. Of course, Milo could have done the deed but I suspect it was Murphy.

It's been a sad day on the survey side of things. My main earner only lasts a year and I got the email earlier my last day will be the end of the month. Then I was let go from the posting panel. A few weeks back while I was waiting for the hospice bus the postman walked past and came up to me and asked if the letter he was delivering was a test item. I denied it as the whole thing is supposed to be a secret but he walked away muttering about the testing people thinking they were stupid. Anyway, I got a message saying Royal Mail were aware I was a panellist and therefore I was off the panel as it needed to be secret. Silver lining I suppose, this happened at the end of this stint and I may not have been picked next time anyway. Plus, I got to cash in my reward points and now have some supermarket vouchers to spend.

James is now testing negative, which is great, but as he was positive at the first check-in can't go back to work until Friday, which is a day off anyway so a few more lie-ins. Saying that, we both woke early this morning and decided to go to the beach for an early morning walk, and got there just after 6am. As expected it was pretty much deserted, but still so pretty in the early morning sunshine. But this time I'd learned my lesson and had taken my own coffee considering none of the shops were open that early.

Not the beach but starting with some Milo who was showing off by jumping to the back of the couch the other day.

Happy anniversary to Kayleigh and Lucy! (And to your speech! *g*)

That would be quite a shock getting an e-mail like that!

Bummer on the surveys.

Yay for a morning at the beach! I love that photo of the water with the green grasses in the foreground.

Happy belated anniversary to Kayleigh and Lucy!

Good for Murphy! My cat that lived the longest was one to bring in birds and mice (often dead, sometimes not). And once, a baby bunny was brought in live. Not sure who did that, but I eventually caught it and let it loose again. The orange cat I had at the time watched for that bunny in the house for several days before giving up.

Lovely beach photos, thanks for sharing!

Years ago, someone 'gave' me an orange cat. She was getting married, moving to Texas and said her fiance was allergic. He was a chunky, playful cat and liked to toss things in the air, then pounce on them.

When the baby bunny was brought in, I heard the orange cat tossing stuff up and pouncing on it from the living room. I was in my bedroom. After a few minutes, this dark/black thing darted across my floor and kitty came running in after it. I leapt up on my bed thinking it was a RAT. Fortunately, for the baby bunny, my fat cat was too big to squeeze under my dresser where the bunny was hiding. After I calmed down, I put on some thick leather gloves, grabbed a flashlight and investigated. I found the shaking, terrified little bunny. I grabbed a grocery bag and after a few tries was able to capture the bunny, and I released him outside in the neighbor's fenced-in yard (at the time, no one lived there and the backyard grass was about 3' tall. I hope he found his way home!

I've had the cats bring in both live and dead birds and mice. When my brother lived with me for 10 years, we had a deal, that LIVE animals were my job to take capture and release, and his job was to get rid of DEAD things. My job was a little tougher, but his was grosser to me.

Happy anniversary to Kayleigh and Lucy! - And I hope the insurance does come through in the end. Too bad about the posting panel though, especially since it wasn't your fault the secrecy was lost. What a pair of handsome gentlemen Milo and Murphy are! The beach looks so lovely with the light on the water. I'm especially struck by the third to last photo with the grasses silhouetted against the horizon line - that's a great composition.

A belated happy anniversary to Kayleigh and Lucy! (And to your brave speech!)

Getting the mail about Murphy's insurance must have been such a shock! I'm keeping everything crossed they will soon tell you it was a mistake!

Milo is looking wonderful in that photo! So sleek and healty. And the mouser is looking incredibly satisfied with himself :-)

The photos from the early-morning beach are all lovely!
