Jun. 22nd, 2022 01:23 pmJames went back to work Monday so things are back to normal for now, though how long that lasts depends on when his back and kidney appointments finally turn up, both of which he'll need recovery time for. He did get his pre op appointment for the second this morning, so that's moving at least.
At the weekend we went to see Jurassic World Dominion, which yeah, utterly forgeable and Lightyear which was fun.
We also went for walks at the Wetlands which was lovely and an early morning walk to a different beach. This one is also local but in a different direction to our usual beach. It's also known as a place you can scavenge for sea glass. James has always wanted to look for some but was put off as you have to go down the cliff via some steep steps to get to the beach. But, it was early, a beautiful morning before it got too hot, so we decided to go for it.
The steps were steep, but we took them slowly and steady and he got down, the main issue was the beach itself was deep shingle on a slope and James found it really hard to walk on, especially coming back. We did find some sea glass but he's said it's a one-and-done thing and I suspect that's the right decision.
Sunday was pretty uneventful in terms of Father's Day, the first one without my FiL and Corey was working all weekend so we couldn't see him. He did phone though and had a good natter so that was better than nothing.
Pauline has been making noises about wanting to go out for lunch so we're taking her to the Thai restaurant Friday, and then on the night, my MiL was supposed to be coming to stay for two nights. Except, she hasn't been well and she's just phoned saying she finally did see the doctor and he's sent her straight to hospital saying he thinks the valve in her heart is acting up. It's frustrating as she's been feeling ill for ages but refused to see the doctor and no doubt has made things worse by waiting so long.
The new Umbrella Academy eps have dropped and are there waiting for me on Netflix. Sadly they'll have to wait until later tonight. Stupid shared shows. Though it is a lovely day and I have things to do so I couldn't spend it watching TV anyway. Not that that's not tempting.
Strike that and edited before I got to post this. This morning Kayleigh messaged and I met up with her, Bodhi and Lucy for an iced coffee instead.
Now I'm home and am going to have some time in the garden, first tidy it up a little, feed the flowers then some time reading my book in the sunshine I think.

Date: 2022-06-22 07:37 pm (UTC)I’m gonna be seeing Jurassic World tomorrow, but I have heard such mixed things about it. I do wanna try and catch Lightyear, it looks so fun!
Those walks sound nice, though it’s a shame the sea glass beach doesn’t have better access and such.

Date: 2022-06-23 06:48 am (UTC)Jurrasic World isn't the worst film I've watched and it was entertaining enough. But it's nowhere close to being near the top of the franchise. Still, I hope you enjoy it. Lightyear was very watchable and gets bonus points for a solid lesbian relationship that's got the bigots frothing.
The sea glass beach is lovely, and the lack of access is probably why it's so good for finding the sea glass as its in a natural deep cove. But walking on the shingle was really hard, and I have two ankles that can flex.

Yay for reading in the garden!

Date: 2022-06-23 06:44 am (UTC)I suspect my MiL will be at the hospital for a while. I'd like to think it would be the start of her looking after herself but I know it won't.
I do enjoy reading in the garden.

Date: 2022-06-23 12:26 pm (UTC)I hope your m-i-l is able to get the care she needs and that James' appointments go smoothly.
Bummer about JW:D. Was it worth seeing for the OG crew?
Too bad it's not easier to walk on that beach. It's good you have other, better options near you.

Date: 2022-07-03 04:47 pm (UTC)Those were all great things.
But as you know, my MiL is home and James' appointments, at least the pre op parts, are this week so a start at least.

I am glad I went to see it, and the original crew were good to see. It's just not a film that's going to stick in my mind. Even now I had to struggle to remember some details, which is a shame as the franchise can be so big and bold.

Date: 2022-06-26 05:59 pm (UTC)A belated happy Father's Day to James!
How worrisome about your MiL. I hope she's feeling better now that she's had proper treatment. It must be so frustrating for you that she never seems to learn!
Hooray for a nice coffee meet-up!

Date: 2022-06-27 02:40 pm (UTC)That's very true. There's no point James risking falling when we have so many choices close by. We're very lucky like that.
Well my MiL is still in the hospital and I suspect she'll be there for a bit yet. You're right though, she does never seem to learn. Any one of those infections could have caused major damage or even killed her, yet she doesn't seem to get that.
