Jul. 12th, 2022 03:14 pmThank you to the mini Camp Sparkle people who sent me a postcard that arrived this morning. I miss you all too ♥
Milo was at the vets today, just for a nail clip and ear clean. He wasn't impressed but I want to keep on top of both of those things and he was back home within an hour. What made me laugh was the bill was something random like £18.04 and I do wonder if they're taking a quarter off the price due to him only having three legs.
I've been able to pick the first things from the garden, admittedly, only two pea pods and some sweet peas so far, but everything else is coming along nicely, so this is only the start. I really do like growing my own stuff, it's such a nice feeling, and makes all the time watering worth it.
Milo has been sleeping in the bathroom lately, I'm assuming because that has cool lino and not carpet. But he did manage a bit of sunbathing on our bed earlier.

Date: 2022-07-12 02:17 pm (UTC)He probably does like the cool floor, when he doesn't want to be directly in the sun. *g* Cats.

Date: 2022-07-12 02:21 pm (UTC)Milo gave me such a shock when I saw him stretched out on the bathroom floor the first time. But he seems quite comfortable there. Cats is right.

Date: 2022-07-13 12:06 am (UTC)Also the limb pro-rating makes me grin, even with the sad tinge to it. Milo looks very comfortable and zonked out in that shot, hope he was resting well!

Date: 2022-07-13 03:09 pm (UTC)The sweet peas flopped overnight so I need to go out and pick some more. I still love I can do that.

I was talking to Corey about it last night and he suggested they're charging £6 a leg, which would make sense with the odd amount being tax. I do like they do that, it's a small but nice gesture.

Date: 2022-07-14 12:07 am (UTC)I've always trimmed my own kitty's claws. Girl Cat would relax and seemed to enjoy it. The others, not so much. Ozzie HATES it. He growls and bites! Hopefully, Milo is okay with it...perhaps they gave him a senior-kitty discount? LOL

Date: 2022-07-14 07:13 pm (UTC)Adorably grumpy Milo!
I love sweet peas and yours are so pretty! My grandmum grew them every summer when I was a kid and I've tried to grow them on my balcony but sadly there just isn't enough sunshine for them to thrive.

Date: 2022-07-15 07:29 am (UTC)Milo was very grumpy, especially as I'd scooped him into his carrier when he was having a nice deep sleep.
Yeah, sweet peas need a lot of space and sun to really thrive. They're doing great this year and I think it's because I planted them somewhere they get full sun from midday onwards.

Date: 2022-07-15 07:32 am (UTC)Those are excellent ways to keep cool. I suppose it must get too hot even for cats sometimes. We're forecast for record temps from the weekend, mid 30c which is really high for here. So I'm going out soon to try and get a cool mat for Milo.
I wish I could trim their nails myself, it would save a lot of money over time. I suspect Murphy would let me do it but despite being a really placid cat Milo hates me trying. And yet will lie unmoving at the vets.

Date: 2022-07-15 10:15 am (UTC)Ozzie still has a bit of bad boy in him. He's funny and can be sweet and cuddly, but he has an angry streak now and then, where he'll growl and bite (not only when I do his nails). When he's hungry, he nips my ankles when I'm in the kitchen. He's learned "no bite" pretty well as a command, but the other day, he was rubbing up against my ankles in the kitchen then started nipping...and there was dry food in two bowls! Argh! It's the first time he got nippy when there was food out. I gather his foster mom thought it was cute when he was a little kitten...not so cute anymore. When I first got him (5-6 pounds), he used to try to climb up my leg. Thankfully, he doesn't do that anymore (he's now just over 11 pounds).
Anyway, I was a bit nervous taking him to the vet for the first time, that he might get nippy and/or growly with her. But nope, he was a perfect little gentleman-cat. She even picked him up and held him in her arms, and he wasn't squirmy at all...and even purred a little bit. I was pleasantly surprised!

I keep saying but I do like hearing about him. He sounds like such a character.

Date: 2022-07-17 04:54 pm (UTC)His new thing is, he grabs the bathtub faucet with his paw, then turns his head upside down and tries to drink from it. I often turn the tap on at a trickle and he enjoys trying to drink like that. He sputters a bit, so he hasn't quite mastered it...but perhaps one day. So yeah, he's a silly boy cat and keeps me amused!
