I bought myself a new sundress a few days ago and wore it today. It has little buttons down the front and I found out that my cross-chest bag makes the top few pop open which could have been embarrassing if I hadn't noticed. So, a job for later is to sew the holes shut a bit more. Or get James to do it, he's surprisingly good at sewing little things like that.

I've also ordered two other sundresses in the sale that will be delivered in a few days. I always used to wear trousers to hide my legs, but I'm over that now. If people can't cope with seeing the compression wraps, well it sucks to be them.

Milo now has a cool mat. We'd gone grocery shopping this morning and stopped to fill up at the garage and saw one of their specials of the day was pet cool mats, which were suitable for cats and dogs. So, we bought one of those and it's now in front of the fan and Milo and Murphy are taking turns to lie on it. Though they're both upstairs now so I'm going to get another mat for up there.

I did finish watching The Umbrella Academy last night and I enjoyed it mostly

Them all having no powers at the end feels all kinds of wrong, and if Klaus/Ben isn't being written like crazy right now I don't know fandom at all. And I actually went to AO3 to check and while it is being written it seems GSF is still a thing in the fandom, which is great. Also, I saw the tag 'tentacle dick' Never change, fandom. Never change.

When I had shirts that the buttons did that, I sewed velcro between the buttons to keep the shirt together in front. Just an idea. *g*

But in general, yay sundresses! And yes, judgy people can definitely go fuck themselves.

It does make sense though, as that way at least the buttons could still open if needed, and not embarrassingly pop open on a whim.

Sundresses are so comfortable and cool. I like them a lot.

I had to laugh when Milo and Murphy took turns lying on the cool mat, ideally, they'd share but I can't see that happening.

Glad you found some sundresses you like. I had a friend long ago say that her body isn't there for other people to look at. If someone else has a problem, that is THEIR problem! What you wear is none of their business and they can always look elsewhere if they prefer.

I'm glad the kitties are enjoying the cooling mat. It's nice they're sharing. My kitties are both enjoying the two new scratching posts I bought for them. As you know, things can be so hit and miss whether kitties will enjoy or ignore something. It's nice when you find something they will use.

I hated shirts with button fronts for that reason. I kept a supply of small safety pins. When I wore one of those shirts, I reached under the shirt from the bottom, and pinned the shirt from the inside, next to the button where it wouldn't easily be seen.

Smaller buttonholes would work, but might make buttoning/unbuttoning more difficult. Of course, this suggestion is coming from someone who loathes hand-sewing, so take it for what it's worth. <g>

Now that's a simple idea I can get behind. I suspect they will have to be sewn shut eventually -- the dress is an over-the-head kind so I have no idea why the buttons need to work anyway -- but as someone who also loathes sewing. I'm happy to take shortcuts until then.

New summer dresses are the best! Those buttons sound a little unfortunate though. Do you have to be able to open them? If not the safest thing would be to sew both sides together permanently.

I completely agree with everyone else, if people get upset by seeing your wraps they can look somewhere else!

No, the dress is an over-the-head kind and I was actually surprised the buttons could open. I thought they would have been decorative only, not something that could have led to a wardrobe malfunction. I think you're right, sewing them shut completely would be the safest thing to do.

They can look somewhere else! And it's nice to not be wearing yet another layer.

Milo has been enjoying his cool mat more, but I shut all the curtains and windows like advised to keep out the sunlight and heat. And found Murphy behind them basking in the sun.

I suspect fandom will always be fandom. The language may change but at the heart never will.

This is the dress I've worn already, the other two are more pinky coloured with flowers on. And no opening buttons on the chest *g*



I was thinking they wouldn't be competing for the space, but taking advice from various people I've got all the windows and curtains shut today, and found Murphy sleeping behind them in direct sun.

Oh man, yeah, long pants in a hot summer are the worse. I totally get feeling insecure about showing off skin, I've been there myself. But being cool is so much better.
