Thank you so much [personal profile] dine for the postcard that arrived yesterday. Post from you is always great ♥

The craft fair for Consett Cats went well yesterday.

It was held in a working man's club so was inside with very easy access. We had a great stall position, just as you came in the doors and directly opposite the stall selling very cheap home baking. Seriously, £2 for five things and they had corned beef squares, individual veggie and meat quiches, cupcakes, cheese and fruit scones and though they weren't in the offer, loaf cakes for £2.50. Plus, free tea, coffee and juice.

We came home with some goodies which was good planning as we were both really tired by the time we got back so it was an easy tea to have.

I really enjoyed talking to other people, both about their cats and in general, got to sell lots of stuff, gave donations to the rescue and the long tiring day was more than worth it. Plus, the festival trolley was amazing, it made moving things so easy and it's going to be such an asset to us.

We also brought home a catnip plant, so both our mogs went a bit crazy for it, so much so Murphy was nipping at it and eating the flowers. But we didn't really think it through, it needs to go in the garden and neither of ours are allowed out. So I can see our garden being the hang-out for the local outside cats more than it is now.

On the way home, we passed a farm that sells lovely homemade sausages so James spent some earnings in there getting sausages as well as some onion chutney which went so well with a cheese scone.

Today it's been a trip to Company for groceries and then I've been tidying the garden while James is having a long nap as I suspect he's overdone it a bit these last few days. Even though I did all the setting up of the stall, moving things etc he still sat and drove for a long time, and there was a lot of sitting on Friday too. Plus, he was sitting finishing a lot of stuff for the fair which didn't help.

The garden is coming on great, I have so many tomatoes starting to ripen and little baby courgettes and lots of radishes that can be pulled now. Sadly the really hot weather killed a lot of the flowers on the flower shelf so I need to get some replacements. There are only so many times I can tell myself they'll come back as I water dried up husks.

Some photos. Murphy and Milo on the nip, a piglet pile at the farm and the tree we bought to display little things. Those cat signs sold really well, cat crazy signs selling at a cat rescue fair, who would have thought it?

I'm glad the craft fair went well, and the trolley proved itself very useful!

Cute pics!

Can you put the catnip in the greenhouse? (I know nothing about the needs of plants)

I'm glad the craft fair went well and that you had a great position! I would've overindulged if I was right across from that booth! (Then again, the only thing stopping me would've been the judgement as they could see me eat their food, lol!)

Midnight goes nutso when I give him the catnip toy!

Love the display tree!

Wonderful to hear the craft fair went well! (I can totally see why all those Crazy Cat Lover signs went so well, they're awesome! And so are the small cat ornaments I can see at the bottom of the photo!)

The photo of Murphy nomming catnip is so much fun and Milo looks very happy and relaxed in his photo. You clearly have to bring sprigs of catnip inside often :-) (Lancecat was completely uninterested in catnip and hopefully most of the neighbourhood kitties will be as well.)

Onion chutney and cheese scones sound like a great combination.

That's so sad about the dead flowers but hooray for lots of new edible things!

The piglet pile is adorable!

So nice to go to a craft fair where there are people to talk to and some of them are actual customers!

Could you keep the catnip in a pot that goes out during the day and comes indoors for the night? I have not yet tried to grow it.

Hurray for what sounds like a super successful fair! It's great that both the trolley and the display tree are proving their worth. And the bakery goods sound like a great bonus. Also, hurray for your garden and the harvest to come!

Those are some super cute photos. (PIGLETS!) I don't think I've ever seen fresh catnip like that, usually only dried and shredded stuff - neat to see what it's like as a live plant.

Had no idea fresh catnip looked like that! Pretty!

Piggies!!!!

The display tree seems like a great idea! I wonder if it’s foldable though? 😬
