My brother phoned last night asking if I was still ready to go in terms of the kitchen, and I am, sort of. I've decluttered all of the base cupboards and one of the top ones. Though that one was pretty much filled with boxes of tea.

Next are the other four top cupboards and the tall one, though half of that is the freezer with shelves above. It shouldn't take that long as the biggest one has pipework in it meaning it's shallow and another is a corner cupboard with a lot of empty space that I can't reach.

So the plan is for the electrician to come at the end of the week and look at what needs doing. We did get a quote previously but that was before lockdown and prices have jumped up since then so I'm bracing myself for that. But, that's the main thing that needs doing so we'll pay anyway, safety before cosmetics always. Plus, Chris has said the electrician is going to phone him while he's looking at the job so I'm hoping that means a bit of a second-hand mates rate.

I called into Morrisons yesterday and they had a display of reduced fruit bushes and I came out with two carrier bags full. But they were nice bushes, not wilted at all, and were only 35p each. I'm sure I can find spaces for them somewhere in the garden and if they fail, well it's not a big loss at all.

Masterchef Australia started this week which always signifies we're into the second half of the year to me. Now I'll be watching the hundreds of episodes that will be broadcast before the finale in Dec.

We also watched the first ep of Surreal Estate which wasn't the best thing I've watched but did keep my attention quite nicely.

I should go find places for the new plants, and pick the ripe tomatoes and courgettes. I've so many of both already. I think it's going to be a bumper year, though sadly the pea pods died after one harvest which was a shame.

ETA: There's a post up about a potential Camp Sparkle next year. I think any Sparklers who follow me are members of the comm anyway, but just in case.

Oooh Surreal Estate sounds fun... and Masterchef Australia, you say? Where would one watch this if one were so inclined?

I hope all goes well with your kitchen work, and that the increase isn't too bad.

I hope your fruit bushes go well. I wish I had your knack with plants!

That's exciting that your kitchen reno is getting under way! Good luck with the decluttering. It sounds like you've got a lot done already. And it's such a good feeling to get rid of things and organize and streamline what you have.

Also, here's hoping the new fruit bushes flourish! What kinds are they?

Yay for almost new kitchen!

(We're finally getting close to setting the date to have our living room carpet replaced - it was back ordered - and that is going to entail some cleaning as there are some spots I haven't touched in ages because I rarely move furniture away from the wall. o_O Now's the time.)

Good luck with the fruit bushes. *thinks* I wonder if my local Morrisons is doing likewise

Having renovations of any kind is a right pain, but it will be worthwhile.

That's A LOT of tea! I never accumulate much tea. I'm afraid I won't be able to use it up before it gets too old and stale. I hope yours is all useable.

Good luck sorting throuth the remaining cuboards!

I'll keep my fingers crossed the necessary electric work won't be too expensive!

You've turned into such a gardener, it's awesome! What fruit bushes did you buy? I hope they will all thrive!
