My brother phoned last night asking if I was still ready to go in terms of the kitchen, and I am, sort of. I've decluttered all of the base cupboards and one of the top ones. Though that one was pretty much filled with boxes of tea.
Next are the other four top cupboards and the tall one, though half of that is the freezer with shelves above. It shouldn't take that long as the biggest one has pipework in it meaning it's shallow and another is a corner cupboard with a lot of empty space that I can't reach.
So the plan is for the electrician to come at the end of the week and look at what needs doing. We did get a quote previously but that was before lockdown and prices have jumped up since then so I'm bracing myself for that. But, that's the main thing that needs doing so we'll pay anyway, safety before cosmetics always. Plus, Chris has said the electrician is going to phone him while he's looking at the job so I'm hoping that means a bit of a second-hand mates rate.
I called into Morrisons yesterday and they had a display of reduced fruit bushes and I came out with two carrier bags full. But they were nice bushes, not wilted at all, and were only 35p each. I'm sure I can find spaces for them somewhere in the garden and if they fail, well it's not a big loss at all.
Masterchef Australia started this week which always signifies we're into the second half of the year to me. Now I'll be watching the hundreds of episodes that will be broadcast before the finale in Dec.
We also watched the first ep of Surreal Estate which wasn't the best thing I've watched but did keep my attention quite nicely.
I should go find places for the new plants, and pick the ripe tomatoes and courgettes. I've so many of both already. I think it's going to be a bumper year, though sadly the pea pods died after one harvest which was a shame.
ETA: There's a post up about a potential Camp Sparkle next year. I think any Sparklers who follow me are members of the comm anyway, but just in case.

Date: 2022-08-03 07:10 am (UTC)I'm watching Masterchef Australia on Watch on Sky, I'm not sure if it's shown elsewhere. This is my favourite Masterchef version by far. I love the judges and the format, even if it does seem to be on for months.

Date: 2022-08-03 07:08 am (UTC)My issue is I do like green tea/fruit tea etc but only tend to drink it when it's cooler. Plus, often it's sold off really cheap at Company and I tell myself it's good to stock up as it won't go off. Then I open a cupboard door and it's full of boxes of tea.
Thank you! It's the first time I've tried to grow fruit bushes, so fingers crossed.

Date: 2022-08-03 07:06 am (UTC)I'm kind of expecting the worse in terms of the increase, but the electrics badly need doing so all I can do is suck it up.
Thank you again. I'd love for the fruit bushes to thrive, though sadly I don't always win. The pea pods show that *g*

Date: 2022-08-06 02:17 pm (UTC)It really is. I've been ruthless this time, anything broken or not used in years is gone. I mean, I had a ridiculous amount of mugs considering most of the time only two of us are in the house.
The fruit bushes are red currents and gooseberries. They're doing okay, so hopefully, I'll get something off them next year.

Date: 2022-08-03 01:00 pm (UTC)(We're finally getting close to setting the date to have our living room carpet replaced - it was back ordered - and that is going to entail some cleaning as there are some spots I haven't touched in ages because I rarely move furniture away from the wall. o_O Now's the time.)

Good luck with that! I know what you mean about moving furniture, my couch is the same. It's big and a corner couch so hard to move. Goodness knows what's behind there.

Date: 2022-08-06 02:20 pm (UTC)I'm a little overwhelmed with the renovations and they haven't even started yet. There's so much to pick and get right.

I'll keep my fingers crossed the necessary electric work won't be too expensive!
You've turned into such a gardener, it's awesome! What fruit bushes did you buy? I hope they will all thrive!

Date: 2022-08-06 02:23 pm (UTC)I'm down to two cupboards that need sorting. One is filled with medicine stuff mam bought in bulk and gave to me so that needs to be sorted through.
Thankfully the electric work wasn't as bad as I expected. I would have paid anyway as like I said, the wiring is old and dodgy right now. But knowing it hasn't jumped up much is great.
I bought red currant and gooseberry bushes. Fingers crossed I'll get some fruit next year.
