It would have been mam's birthday today.

Murphy also turns three, so happy birthday to him. A few days ago I bought him a new bed from B&M as they'd been reduced a lot. Now Murphy and Milo take turns using it and surveying their domain from up high -- of a few inches.









James is feeling a bit better again so we've been for a very short walk at the local country park. Admittedly it was more sitting in the sunshine watching the swans than actually walking, but it's a good start. After we called into the farm shop opposite and found out they've expanded a lot since the last time I was there. They now have a milk vending machine, which was very cool. You buy a glass bottle for £2:50 and can then fill it up at extra cost, with either plain or flavoured milk, including guest flavours, which today were honeycomb and chocolate.

I didn't buy any of those but did come home with two cheese and red onion scones which were delicious. So, a win I feel.

I like the bed because it does look interesting, and of course because the cats actually like being in it.

The swans were beautiful, if a bit feisty yesterday. I'm no swan behaviour expert but I would have thought they'd be settling down at this point, instead a lot were challenging each other.

The cats made me laugh yesterday. Murphy was in the bed and when he got off it Milo actually ran to take his place. Who knew it would be so popular? But of course, if I went searching for another they'd both go off them and sleep on the floor or something.

I like the cat bed, mostly because they like it because I have bought beds in the past they won't look at. But the fact it looks nice is a bonus.

It was lovely to get out in the sunshine yesterday. Today was a quick trip to the shops and now James is fast asleep under a blanket on the couch. But still, another step taken.

oh i LOVE this little bed. my tiny man (dog) turned 3 this year too. i should see if he'd like a bed like this. he's about the size of a cat, so maybe?

I hope you can find a bed like that for your dog. I think the cats like that it's off the floor a little and enclosed, despite the actual open design. So, I'm assuming your tiny man will feel the same.

Milo is so old that he doesn't run that often now, so seeing him sprint across the room was quite a shock *g*

They love the bed, I suspect the fact it is off the floor and sort of enclosed helps with that.

I was very tempted to try some of that flavoured milk but resisted due to cost and having to buy the bottle first. But yeah, honeycomb-flavoured milk sounds delicious.

Those milk vending machines seem to be quite the rage - my local and my parent's local farm shops both have them. It's a fun idea.

It is a fun idea and I like the idea of reusing the glass bottle. I didn't buy at the time as I have a constant war of 'but I can get milk for much cheaper elsewhere' in my head. But I suspect at some point I'll buy from there.

The scones were so tasty. So much better than the mass produced ones you get from supermarkets.

What an awesome cat bed! I've never seen anything like it before. It's really cool that both your boys like it - they look like they're really comfy in those photos!

I'm so glad to hear James is feeling a little better! Even if it was mostly just sitting in the sun getting out of the house is a great first step!

I'd no idea milk vending machines existed! Honeycomb sounds like a cool flavour and the one with chocolate sounds a bit like the classic Swedish drink Pucko which is totally awesome.

B&M had some excellent cat beds this year, many of them unusual to look at. They also had one like this but it hung from a stand so was free moving. It looked great but I was worried Milo would be unbalanced getting into it. But, you're right, they both love this one.

Getting out and sitting in the sun was an excellent first step. It was lovely to get out of the house and get some fresh air.

Pucko does sound delicious, and I suspect the chocolate milk would be very like it. Now I wish I'd bought some. This was the first time I'd actually seen a milk vending machine and I spent some time watching people using it, so it must be a popular concept.

I wonder if my Sable would like such a cool bed? Possibly not, as she doesn't seem interested in enclosed spaces, particularly, and has never ventured into the cave bit of the cat tree. But your two look very pleased with life!

It's funny, the cave bit of our cat tree has never been popular with any of our cats apart from Tinker. But Murphy and Milo are still loving this new bed. I'm not going to search for another one though as I know if I do neither of them will step paw in the things again.

Onwards and upwards for James, we've been out yesterday and today for a little while and each time he needed to recover with a long nap. But it's still a good step.

OK so came back to find this post because I wanted to tell you that today, Li found one of those milk vending machines has just opened up in it's own little shop in Honiton, and she came home with a litre of salted caramel flavour milk. AND IT IS AMAZING!
