Thank you dine for the postcard that arrived yesterday. And such an adorable card, too.

We actually got a big pile of mail yesterday, including a first-class postcard sent while my in-laws were on holiday and a letter telling us the annual stair lift inspection would be happening today. That letter was sent at the back end of August so there's definitely been a hold-up somewhere. Still no sign of the letter about James' appointment from a few days back though.

The inspection was supposed to happen between 8:30 and 12:30 so I was up early and hoovered the stairs of cat hair and the dust that always gathers on the track. And of course, the inspection guy turned up close to midday.

Today I ended up on the Abbey Road webcam again. It's always interesting to watch, though I do feel for the drivers who must never know if people are actually wanting to cross or pose for photos.

Yesterday we went blackberry'ing and managed to gather enough for a few crumbles. I made one and the remaining fruit will be frozen and will be made into crumbles in the future.

We also had vague plans about watching the Tour of Britain stage 3 cycle race as it passed through our town. But just before they were due to arrive it started to storm with really heavy rain so I was content to stay in and watch the race on TV.

Also on TV yesterday, constant coverage of the new prime minister. Pushing aside that disaster, I enjoyed seeing Larry in all of his element, including soundly ignoring Jon Kay from Breakfast trying to talk to him. And also enjoyed this

I'm jealous of your blackberries - I remember picking tons and freezing them, so the family could enjoy blackberry pie in the winter. enjoy your crumbles!

I really like Larry. I love how he just keeps on doing his own thing while being watched by multiple cameras and press people.

It's fun picking blackberries, but sadly a lot seem to have shrivelled up already. I don't know if it's the weird weather but so many were unusable.

We picked some apples at the same time as the blackberries but sadly the apple trees in the wild tend to have really bitter fruit. So we tried, and then left the rest.

Me too, though James' hospital letter from last week still isn't here.

The blackberries were very tasty but seem to be shrivelling up faster than normal. I do wonder if the heat has caused that.

Larry is fab, I love that he's always there and doing his own thing despite all of the press.

Snap on the blackberries (although I have them in the garden, since they're one of the few things the dogs can't kill). I found a blackberry pie recipie that I wanted to try out, so that's on the cards for this winter.

...ah, would that we could push aside the new PM. That would make me sublimely happy (although not if selection of the replacement was restricted to 0.000000001% of the population).

You're lucky to have blackberries in your garden. My sister has them growing in the lane outside her house so I pick them from there often as she won't eat them. She's missing out. Enjoy your pie when you have it.
