We were on our way to a tip run this morning, and looking up at our house as we drove off the estate saw someone in orange hi-vis outside our garden gate. About a minute later my phone rang, and more than three months after reporting it the council had turned up to swap the broken wheelie bin for a new one. So, we had to quickly drive back, I emptied the old wheelie bin and the new one was brought down. The man bringing it said the new design is rubbish, and the lids keep snapping off. But at least this one doesn't have a hole at the bottom that lets bin juice seep out.

Once he went we headed back to the tip, arriving at the exact last minute of our booked slot. Got rid of the rubbish and then got a pumpkin spice latte from Greggs which was delicious.

Disney + has a special offer to get it for £1.99 for a month instead of the usual full price. While I don't really want to join more streaming services I'm considering a month so I can watch some of the new 911 Lonestar as I miss that show. I could also catch up on some of the Marvel shows I've missed.

I was looking at going to the cinema but the two films we want to see start at 6pm. That seems so late, I'm getting ready for winding down for the night then not going out. But, it's that or not seeming them it seems as there is very little on during the day right now.

It looks like an announcement will come soon that the Queen has died, and that's so weird to think about. I'm not a royalist but I do respect her and obviously, she's been the Queen all my life. She's reminded me of nanna at the end recently, hunched and frail but still with that wide smile. I suppose she could rally but it doesn't sound good and I feel for her family and all that love her because that call to the side of a loved one is a horrible thing.

when I woke, the TV was talking about the Queen, and I couldn't figure out why - wasn't until later that I heard things weren't looking good. like you, I expect we'll hear about her passing, which will be sad. even across the pond, she's generally a well-loved figure

and I just heard she'd died (probably about the time I was leaving this comment)

I'm watching the news now, all the tv channels went black before they announced the news, the radio is playing sombre songs. I suspected it was coming but it still feels all kinds of weird. I liked her, she gave her all her whole life and this announcement and the resulting feeling will stay in my memory for a while I suspect.

If anything, she was dedicated to her work. The platinum jubilee, including that sketch, was fantastic and I'm glad that happened.

Awww that’s a shame. I was looking at our local cinema and for some reason there’s only stuff showing on the weekend now which seems odd.

It's interesting that her reign has lasted longer than most people on the planet have been alive. Her later pictures (after graying) certainly reminded me of my own grandmother. May she rest in peace.

Yep! The old bin could be used but all the sludge used to come out the bottom, which wasn't nice in the hot weather we've been having.

I couldn't believe that after so many months they turned up just after I'd left the house. And it was early too, we must have been the first appointment they had. Though why they don't tell you they're coming I don't know, they obviously had my number.

I've decided I will get the Disney offer because there is a load I want to see. It's good to know there's good stuff on there.

I don't know what's up with the cinemas lately. Ours are open during the day but still showing kids and old films which is weird now the schools are back in session.

Matinees are the best. They mean I get to see things I want and still be home well in time to settle for the night.

I remember you saying you can't stream. There are so many services now it's ridiculous. Thankfully I get Netflix as part of my satellite subscription and Amazon as part of Prime, but I really don't want to add on a load more.

I'm glad all the bin and tip shenanigans worked out, that could have been a right pain in the neck. They really don't make wheelies that are up to the flinging about they get, but I hope your new one stands up a bit better than predicted!

It is strange. Not a shock, but the Queen has always been there. Even now, more than a week later, hearing the King seems wrong.

I really hope so. The old one lasted for a really long time and was still solid apart from the small hole in the bottom. Sadly, the hole was enough to let nasty ooze out, which wasn't good.
