We got our Covid boosters this morning, as of now no side effects so hopefully, it will stay that way.

My appointment was 8:30, James' at 8:35 but it was a bit of a clusterfuck as today was the day they'd changed from the 75 and over group which were walk-ins, to appointments only. Stupidly, this wasn't a change that had reached the websites so people kept turning up and had to be sent away after being told there were no more walk-in sessions in the whole of the Sunderland area and they'd need to book an appointment now. Which of course isn't that simple if you don't know where to make one, and also have to be lucky enough to get a slot in a place you can access.

We were lucky, but even so I was nearly sent out again when I reached the nurse actually giving the vaccinations as she said the carers slots weren't open yet. Which wasn't what the main computer said, plus even if they weren't I was still eligible for other reasons. But, apparently, they realised the groups had actually changed and I was jabbed and out of the door and having a coffee in the on-site cafe within minutes.

After that we went for a drive to the beach, a short walk, nipped into Company and then home as James had a long-term sickness telephone appointment with his work. He said it went better than he was expecting but like I told him when we were discussing after, nothing that's happening is his fault. He's got doctor's letters, appointments etc to back up what's happening and physically it's not like he could manage to be there at the moment. One of the ladies on the phone said it didn't sound like he'd be back any time soon and I have to agree with her, especially if his second op date can't be brought forward.

I watched the Queen's funeral yesterday and by the night the beat of the drums were still in my head. There was so much to take in, but what I liked the most were the small personal details like Emma the pony and the corgis Muick and Sandy. But, I have to admit, it was nice to see TV presenters in clothes other than black this morning and to know the constant coverage will be easing. I won't say over as I know there will be highlights and specials for ages, but easing, yeah.

Tonight I have new House of the Dragon to watch. I wasn't that keen on the last season of Game of Thrones -- Bran the useless, I still smite you and your uselessness -- but I'm enjoying this. The title music always makes the hair on the back of my arms stand up too, mainly because it reminds me of when I loved GoT so much, and of course, dragons. Matt Smith is pretty great in it too as he chews up the scenery.
