Sep. 24th, 2022 09:15 amIn excellent news, I have a new kitchen ceiling!
Well, mostly, it still needs the trim around the edges but the main part is up along with the new spotlights and it's so shiny and bright. Murphy makes me laugh as he keeps sitting and looking up at the reflected lights as if he can see the mystery of the universes up there.
My brother had a heck of a job as apparently the wall bricks are extra hard and it took a load of effort fitting the structure that the actual cladding would be attached to. It was another 8am to 5pm job for him and his work friend, so I let him off when he was mocking my baked beans stash, which apparently fell on him when he opened the cupboard looking for something.
It's Pauline's birthday on Monday and before I knew when my brother was coming we'd arranged to take her out for lunch, so we were out for part of the mess and noise part. The cats had to be locked in our bedroom because the downstairs front door was open, and I felt so sorry for Murphy as he was obviously scared of the drilling and had jammed himself behind the bookshelves. Milo wasn't fussed at all and was chilling on the bed when I let them out.
When I came back from lunch I also found out my brother had wanted a coffee and had thought the filter coffee was instant and had tried to make a mug with that. That didn't go well so he'd tried one of the instant sachets I have, but they're Baileys flavour and he said that was disgusting. So James made him a pod skinny latte, and he hated that too. Guess he's an instant only man, so I bought a jar of Nescafe for him as they're back on Monday, for what should be the final time.
Milo has been a bit off lately, nothing too serious but I am worried his mild kidney disease is getting worse or else he's getting thyroid issues. He's still with the PDSA so we called in there only to be told his registration had run out so we needed to provide proof of tax credits again. So, back home to dig out that letter, provided that, and because it's not an emergency had to put in a consultation request and they'd phone back within four days to see if he needs to be seen. They didn't call Friday and I'm assuming won't over the weekend so hopefully that call will come Monday.
But, while looking for that letter I did find a long-lost Love to Shop gift card worth £50 which was excellent.
My Covid booster gave me mild side effects but nothing painkillers couldn't sort out. But I still have a red, warm, hard spot around the injection site. James has the same so it must be a common thing for this type.
First Strictly show last night to reveal pairings and while I knew them already due to looking up spoilers it was so great to see the show back, and with so many new pros too. Also, new Ghosts!
Tonight the first actual dancing Strictly, and also new Masked Dancer, so that's my whole Saturday early evening booked up right there.
This afternoon we're off to the cinema to see Don't Worry Darling. We had actually planned to go yesterday but arranged to meet Kayleigh and Bodhi at Costa saying we'd stay for a little bit and then head off to Durham for the 1:30 show, which yeah, didn't happen. Bodhi was in fine form so we were still sitting chatting and playing when the show was due to start.
And to end, it feels like I've gone back in time bandom wise with recent photos of Mikey with Gabe and also Hey Chris doing some excellent captioning.
The comment from this Insta post is 'Beautiful Detroit sunset with my friend.' while Mikey replied with three laughing emojis. Well played, Chris, well played.

Date: 2022-09-24 11:36 am (UTC)I don't drink coffee (unless it's in something like a mocha frappe *g*) but I wince at the thought of instant coffee. That said, I only drink the weakest of teas, so tea people probably look at me askance. (Earl Grey is one of the teas I can drink, but I can make a tea bag go for at least three mugs because I don't like it strong, and then I read that Brits think Earl Grey is, like, baby tea because it's so weak, lol!)
Poor Murphy, being afraid. (Midnight has to hide during loud noises like heavy rain or thunderstorms and we can usually find him under a dresser in the closet.) I hope Milo's okay.
But yay for discovering that gift card!
It's great that you got your covid booster. I need to schedule mine, but I didn't want to do it when this month was so busy, and next weekend is vacation, but sometime in October for sure.
That movie is playing at our local theater. It looked mind-blowy. I'd be interested in knowing what you thought of it. Too bad you missed it before, but it was for a good cause. *G*

I love coffee and tend to go for the strong stuff. I also like strong tea, so would have to just dip a teabag in for you *g* However, I love coffee frappes so we match on that at least.
Poor Midnight, it must be hard for them not knowing what the noises are. I think for Murphy it didn't help he was in the bedroom above the kitchen so the floor would have been vibrating due to the drill.
I thought the gift card had been lost for good and getting in touch with the company who had issued it hadn't helped. So it was fantastic to come across it, though I'm sure I'd checked that pile of letters before.
No, I wouldn't schedule your booster when you're busy. I only had mild symptoms and that was enough. Talking of, I haven't caught up fully yet so hope things went well last week.
Well, I liked the movie. I've seen a lot of people saying it's terrible but I found it interesting and a bit of a brain twister, I didn't expect the twist, though knew something was wrong. I mean, that was apparent just from the trailer. Also, Harry Styles isn't that bad of an actor which always surprises me. Harry the actor always seems so much different to Harry the musician.

Well, if I do I'm prepared, though I suspect only beans would get tomatoes. I may have to throw the passata stash into the mix, too *g*
I did enjoy the movie. It was a brain twister but it kept my attention.

Date: 2022-09-24 07:17 pm (UTC)Bandom is a balm for the soul right now. I'm loving most everything I keep seeing from MCR's tours, but most especially Gerard's apparent "I no longer have any fucks to give, so I'm gonna do whatever I like, kay?" mentality.

Date: 2022-09-25 02:31 pm (UTC)Thank you! And, I know, right? When a tin of beans is £5 or you can't get them from the shop he better not be knocking on my door.
Oh man, Gerard is fabulous just now, all his outfits are amazing and I love how he's just going for it and dressing how he wants.

Date: 2022-09-25 05:42 am (UTC)I hope Milo can get in for an appointment soon and get whatever treatment will be best.
And I'm glad your booster side effects were manageable. I'm going to have to brace myself on Thursday.
The tour photos have been SUCH DELIGHT!! Of course everything happens and everyone is there to see them in New Jersey!! It makes my heart happy to see Gabe and Mikey side by side again.

Date: 2022-09-25 01:41 pm (UTC)This is a very good point, goodness knows what Murphy is actually seeing up there! And thank you for the added hurray :D
Yeah, I'm hoping the PDSA gets in touch tomorrow. He's not seriously ill or anything but he's so old I like to be careful.
Good luck for your booster on Thursday. It's weird putting yourself forward for side effects but obviously better to get it than not.

I agree! They all look so happy and I look forward to finding out what Gerard has dressed up as each night. And yes to Gabe and Mikey being side by side. So lovely.

Date: 2022-09-25 07:01 pm (UTC)Maybe Murphy his looking for Ceiling Cat and can't see him because of all the new shinyness!
Serves your brother right for being nosy and opening your cupboards ;-)
Poor Murphy! Lancecat was never bothered by drilling or hammering but fireworks always made him freak out and hide under my bed.
I hope there is nothing seriously wrong with Milo *keeps everything crossed*
I'm getting my booster on Wednesday afternoon. Hopefully I won't get any side effects at all!
Awwww, that photo of Mikey and Gabe is so cute! (And salso hows how ridiculously tall Gabe is is!!)

Date: 2022-09-26 03:31 pm (UTC)Ahahaha, I think you could be right about ceiling cat. There was something up there attracting Murphy's attention.
Serves your brother right for being nosy and opening your cupboards ;-)
You know, that's true, I should have made that point *g*
It's weird what sets cats off. It must be so unnerving for them when loud noises happen and they have no idea why.
Milo seems a bit brighter today, which is good as the PDSA still haven't phoned. If they haven't by tomorrow we'll have to chase them up.
I hope you don't get side effects. *fingers crossed*
I was so happy when I saw that photo of Mikey and Gabe. But it did feel like time had slipped back many years!

Date: 2022-09-25 11:52 pm (UTC)Poor Murphy. I'm sure he'll be glad when all the work is completed.
It's weird that when I was pretty young there really weren't a lot of coffee options. Just a handful of brands. Now, people can be so picky because there are 100s of types of coffee now...and I don't like any of them! LOL
I'm on a fence about when to get my booster (and flu shot). I'd like to get it and be done with it. However, I have so much to do before my brother visits in a couple of weeks that I really can't afford any downtime. Decisions, decisions...
Chris K is supposedly the Hummingbird on the new Masked Singer here. However, he's already been cut and will be revealed this coming Weds. I didn't watch the first ep, but someone sent me a link to the Hummingbird, and it definitely sounds like Chris. They already cut Eric Idle and William Shatner. It really kind of sucks that three people only get to sing once. I would have loved to see more from Chris. I mean, provided he truly is the Hummingbird.
I'm really looking forward to the new Ghosts, although, I assume you're talking about the UK version. It's weird though because I've heard the UK version is only 6 eps per season. The US version had 18 eps in S1 and I heard there will be 22 eps in S2, which starts this Thursday. I do enjoy the US version, but hope I can watch the UK version at some point. It will be interesting to see the differences...and similarities.

Date: 2022-09-29 03:18 pm (UTC)I'm sure Murphy will be thrilled when all the work is done, and he won't be the only one.
Now, people can be so picky because there are 100s of types of coffee now...and I don't like any of them! LOL
While I do love coffee I agree about all the different types. When I was young you had instant with the fancy stuff being the drip kind. Now there is every kind and flavour going.
It's difficult picking when to get the boosters because you never know if you will get side effects and of course if you have plans those side effects can really throw you off your game. We have our flu shots next Tuesday and just today found out James' op has been brought forward to next Friday so I wonder if it would be best to cancel his.
I checked out the video of Hummingbird and know the reveal has happened now but I'm shocked anyone could ever think that wasn't Chris. It was obvious to me even though he didn't try for any of the very high notes. I wish he could have sang more too.
Yeah, I am talking about the UK Ghosts. It's funny how the episode thing worked out, the same happened for Queer as Folk, The Office and Shameless, and no doubt others. All had small seasons here but many more eps in the US. UK Ghosts is great so I hope you get to see it sometime.
