Oct. 10th, 2022 12:51 pmI met up with Kayleigh for a coffee yesterday and found out she'd booked a very last minute -- in that she booked yesterday and was going away today -- holiday to Butlins for her, Lucy and Bodhi. They went this morning and as she has three cats, I'm on morning cat-checking duty from tomorrow until Friday, while one of her friends will do the evenings.
I didn't know about the holiday until we met at Costa so Kayleigh called in on the afternoon to pick up her birthday present, so another reason it was good I got them bought early, and then she spent a frantic evening trying to pack last minute for two adults and a 13-month-old.
Today I've booked Milo in for a nail clip on Friday. He's been tip-tapping while walking for a while but the other day in bed he overbalanced and caught my lower eyelid with his claw. I was deeply asleep at the time and waking up suddenly to the realisation I had a cat claw so close to my eye was not fun, plus it hurt. So, off he goes to get them clipped.
Yesterday was nicely productive house-wise. We'd bought a new cube-style unit to replace the fish tank cupboard and it's been sitting and getting in the way for a while. So, I hauled the fish cupboard outside, put the old kitchen chairs that have been stored in the living room for weeks into the greenhouse, and got that corner sorted. I managed to consolidate six kitchen overspill bags into three and the storage cubes are ideal at hiding clutter so everything is looking nice back there. Plus, I can now shut the blinds without having to crane over chairs, bags and stuff while precariously balancing.
As always I'm enjoying Strictly and loved the smaller pro dance last night. Adam Lambert performed 'Mad About the Boy' and Nikita and Carlos danced beautifully together. Which I'm sure inflamed the 'Strictly is too woke now' idiots but it sucks to be them as the performance was lovely.

Thank you for sharing that video! The dance was lovely, and I'm always happy to see Adam getting exposure.

Date: 2022-10-10 03:15 pm (UTC)Milo and Murphy are both okay going to the vets but I've had hell beasts in the past, including claws braced against the door, scratches to my arms the lot. So I feel you and good luck getting Midnight there when you go.
Adam sounded so good and looked fantastic. I wish I went places where I could wear sparkly make-up like his, not that I'd look as good as he does *g*

Date: 2022-10-10 06:17 pm (UTC)The thought of a claw so close to your eye! I am very glad you've got him booked in to get nicely clipped!
Now that really is a last minute break! I hope she got a good deal and that they have a lovely time - it's supposed to be excellent for the tinies :)

Date: 2022-10-11 06:47 am (UTC)I didn't realise how close his claw had actually got until I woke up and saw the scratch. It's not his fault, but I'd prefer not to have a cat's claw near my eye!
Kayleigh got a fantastic deal that also included food, so that would be a big help. As a family we used to go to Butlins multiple times a year, including a fortnight in summer and around Christmas. Looking back now I've no idea how mam afforded it. But we always had great times and then we continued the theme by taking Corey too. Though stopped when he was junior school age as the cost was ridiculous in holiday times.
Kayleigh has been sending photos and messages saying they were waiting in a long queue to see Peppa Pig and then later was in the main entertainment venue listening to Baby Shark on repeat and surrounded by over excited kids, balloons and flashy, spinny toys, so it seems the media may change, but the feel never does.

Life in your house sounds really exciting!

Life in my house is 99% everyday tediumn and 1% excitment I suspect *g*

Date: 2022-10-11 08:22 am (UTC)Also, oh no, Milo! Thank goodness his claw didn't get any closer. Good thing you could get him the appointment fairly soon.
And always hurray for streamlining of Stuff!

Date: 2022-10-11 03:32 pm (UTC)I'm hoping Milo keeps his appointment as his vets just announced a Covid outbreak on their FB and some appointments are being cancelled. I just hope because he only sees the nurse and not one of the actual vets his will go ahead.

Date: 2022-10-13 11:19 am (UTC)That doesn't sound like the most relaxing beginning to a vacation! I'm hoping they mellowed down a bit once they got there!
OOF, Milo, NO. Eyeballs are strictly off limits, buddy!

Date: 2022-10-15 02:40 pm (UTC)Well, they all had a good time but I don't know about mellow as they met Peppa Pig, went on noisy kids' rides, and watched Paw Patrol shows. I was tired just seeing the photos and videos.
I agee. No eyeballs, Milo!

Date: 2022-10-13 03:58 pm (UTC)Eeek! It makes me shudder just thinking of having a cat claw that close to my eye! Definitely time for a bit of claw clipping. I hope the appointment tomorrow will still happen despite the covid outbreak.
Go you for tidying up and sorting!

Date: 2022-10-15 02:38 pm (UTC)Sadly Milo's appointment had to be cancelled. He's booked in for Tuesday now, so hopefully, that will go ahead. At least his appointment was minor, every member of the clinical staff had gone down with Covid so every appointment was cancelled, serious or not. I feel for those cats that had to go elsewhere.
Thank you. Things are looking nice still.
