Nov. 5th, 2022 03:52 pmIf anyone is interested Re.F.Use has a video here that shows the cafe and a bit behind the scenes. The parts showing the food that would otherwise be thrown away are eye-opening. We occasionally buy one of those Waste Not Boxes for £15, they're good value and you can ask for vegetarian or meat boxes but you do take the risk of getting stuff you've never used before or don't like.
My MiL is coming home today, James is at the hospital now picking her up but I stayed home as my SiL's partner is going too to get my MiL back to the house safely and by the time her wheelchair and all her stuff is put in the car it'll be pretty full. It was a bit of a surprise to hear she'd be going home, last night she called and said a different doctor had said she didn't actually need oxygen in the house. Then this morning the oxygen was delivered to my SiL's and my MiL was told she should use the oxygen for an hour a day. My SiL isn't that happy as they haven't even assessed if my MiL is able to walk to the bathroom as she's been using her wheelchair in the hospital. So it all seems a bit rushed. But, after being told she could go no way was my MiL going to stay.
I was on YouTube earlier and was interested in the mix they'd made due to my watch history. The top ten goes like this.
Panic at the Disco -- Karma Police. Valid, as anyone who has been around for a while, knows I have an unholy love for that cover and will get stuck watching the video on repeat if I catch one glimpse. I may have added a few more views today.
Years and Years -- It's a Sin ( Montage Video) again, obsessive watching after that show ripped out my heart and stamped on it.
The Rasmus -- In the Shadows. This was a surprise, I do like the song and video but didn't think it would make #3.
MCR -- The Kids From Yesterday. Are any of my bandom friends surprised? I suspect not. I am surprised more MCR videos didn't make top 10, though a load are 11 onwards.
A-ha -- The Sun Always Shines on TV -- when I was a little Terri I had an insane crush on Mags. This band was my childhood love, every single inch of my bedroom wall was covered in A-ha posters.
Fall Out Boy -- America's Suitehearts. -- Pete looks insanely hot in this, I love the song and video The tiny nod to Summer of Like may have helped bump up the count over the years
A-ha -- Take on Me -- see above, also the video is excellent.
Bon Jovi -- It's My Life -- This was a surprise, I mean, I like the song but didn't think I watched the video that often.
Panic at the Disco -- Nine in the Afternoon -- I suspect this is here because of how often I've watched Ryan climb the ladder at the end of the video and look damn adorable while doing so. RyRo, V2 I miss you.
Ella Henderson and Tom Grennan -- Let's Go Home Together. I love Tom's voice so much, so not a surprise.
Everything after that is a mix of MCR, Panic, Linkin Park, FOB, A-Ha, Tom Grennan and one Musketeers fan vid. I approve YouTube. Good job!
And watching those has made me want to write killjoys for my mini wrimo words.

Date: 2022-11-05 04:59 pm (UTC)ANd, yes, none of this surprises me. *g*
GOod luck to your MiL. I know exactly what it is like when the patient is itching to go home no matter what.

I suspect being home is going to be a shock for my MiL, going back to a chilly house filled with noisy kids. Add in we've no idea if she'll actually be able to walk to the bathroom easily and I wonder if she's left too soon.

Date: 2022-11-07 05:50 am (UTC)And wow, I hope all goes as smoothly as possible for your MiL and that she doesn't regret leaving the hospital.
A-ha had such awesome videos! Hunting High and Low was the first album I ever bought with my own money and I love it so much.

Date: 2022-11-07 05:05 pm (UTC)I can understand that she wants to get home but for the hospital to even think of sending her home before being certain she can walk to the bathroom on her own seems absurd to me. I guess we just have to wait and see how it goes.
I watch videos so very, very seldom I don't think YouTube would be able to even make a top five list for me :-)
PS You should totally write Killjoys!

Date: 2022-11-07 05:21 pm (UTC)So far my MiL seems to be doing okay, though is doing little more than sitting in her chair and watching tv. It's my youngest nephew's birthday on Sunday and we're supposed to be going out to eat. I think that will be a big test.
A-ha did have awesome videos. I like how they still stand up now, so many years later.

Date: 2022-11-07 05:24 pm (UTC)I was so surprised at that. I get that they need the beds but usually an assessment would have been done to see how the patient can cope before discharge, but my MiL got none of that. James has talked to her on the phone since she left and she says she's doing okay, but the big test will be Sunday when it's my nephew's birthday. We're all supposed to be going out together to eat, so I hope she can manage to journey.

Date: 2022-11-07 05:28 pm (UTC)I totally agree about the hospital sending my MiL home without knowing if she could walk or not. She'd spent over two weeks sitting in a chair or being wheeled to the bathroom, so discharging her without ensuring she could manage seemed really short-sighted. But you're right, all we can do is wait and see how it goes.
I was surprised when I found the created YouTube list, but yeah, if you don't watch you won't have much of a selection *g*
I still intend to. I've done the way bros scene and finished the Musketeer one today, so killjoys tomorrow I think.

Yeah, that's a very good point. They have a core group who are really driven and have recruited a load of volunteers who help keep things running. Without that drive, the place would have folded a long time ago.

Date: 2022-12-05 03:40 pm (UTC)They're hosting Christmas dinner for at least 150 people, no cost and anyone can turn up, and the logistics of that make my head spin.
I like Too Good to Go too, though often pick-ups aren't convenient which is a shame.
