Nov. 7th, 2022 03:39 pmSome of you may remember that a few years back we had tickets to see the touring performance of Phantom of the Opera. It's a show James has always wanted to see, but then lockdown happened, theatres were closed and the show was cancelled.
The money for those tickets was refunded to our theatre account and we've used some since then. But still didn't go to the theatre that often as getting through to the assistance line was almost impossible. James gets free carers tickets for the theatre but had to use that line, and we got used to being on hold for hours and still not getting through.
Then, recently while looking at the ATG website I saw it was supposedly possible to book assessable tickets online now, so James tried, but couldn't get the discounted prices. So he kept trying the accessibility line, and amazingly, finally got through, only to be told his card had run out in July.
Les Misérables has just started in Sunderland, and James really wanted to go see it, which is why he did the whole hanging on for hours thing again. But it looked like it would be impossible to go as there were only single seats left apart from the two back rows in the gods, which is four levels up and impossible for James to access due to the very steep stairs.
But, he filled in his details to re-register for the site, which was a bit of a faff as you now need to get a Nimbus card first and resigned himself to not seeing this show either. The card finally arrived this morning, but we still had no idea how it actually worked so he phoned the accessibility line yet again and talked to a lovely lady who linked his card to his ATG account, and not only that, because it's noted he sometimes needs a wheelchair and has difficultly with stairs, he qualified for two seats on the end of row H in the stalls on Friday. So, long story short, we're off to see Les Misérables Friday night!
And because the lady linked his card we then spent the next hour checking seats and prices online and mentally going to every show at the Empire for the next year *g* We won't of course due to cost, but am tempted by White Christmas, the Pantomime and then, of course, Lion King.
So many shows. If only I had the money for them all.

But yes, I'm excited for Friday.
