I went to see the new Avatar film in 3D yesterday. My sister went to see it before Christmas and loved it loads, which was unexpected as she's not a huge film fan. So I was watching and while it was beautifully shot and visually stunning, at first I was a bit bemused why she raved about it. Then the last hour started and just, whoa! I get it, I really do.

Today we've been doing a tip run. Due to taking some annual leave James only worked Tuesday and is off until next Tuesday so we've been getting things sorted in the house a bit more, including getting rid of more clutter and rubbish. While we were at the tip we saw the recycling shop had finally opened and decided to have a look. It's a cool place, people donating stuff that's too good to be thrown in the skips, and we came out with a pressure washer and a drip coffee machine.

We're doing our usual don't eat out and save money in January thing, so shouldn't have bought anything really, but they were both amazing prices and something we've wanted for a while, so went for it. The garden path has already been pressure washed and looks so much better, and coffee made and drunk. Though I have to admit, it was very strong because it's been a long time since we've had a drip coffee machine and it didn't come with instructions. So James decided completely filling the filter was the way to go. Let's just say the coffee was drinkable, just, if watered down a lot. And we both may jitter for days.

I've got a jumper on today I bought a few weeks back. When my MiL was here she told me my SiL had just bought the same one. Which okay, fine, we may be matching one day. Then went on to say it looked smart like I was wearing a tracksuit, due to the pointed stripe at the front. So now I obviously have to start calling everyone bro and join the tracksuit mafia.

congrats on scoring neat stuff! if you've wanted it for a while, and got a good bargain, it makes sense to grab those now from the recycling shop. good luck figuring out how to make coffee *g*

welcome to the tracksuit mafia, bro!

I think when it's that kind of shop and it's something that is absolutely not a whim buy, then it's more than reasonable just to get it when you see the thing(s) (albeit I'm not sure that making the coffee jackhammer strength is a good thing ;). If it helps, our work one was about a loose tablespoon per mug of water). Hurrah for the tip run, and the purchasing success - the recycling shop is just a wonderful idea.

So now I obviously have to start calling everyone bro and join the tracksuit mafia. This I would pay to see :D.

I can't remember the last time I went to a movie theater, but I'm looking forward to the new Avatar moving coming to TV or one of my streaming services (I've seen the new Top Gun movie via streaming). My brother has not seen the original Avatar, which I thought was very nicely done. I recommended he track it down or rent it and watch it, and then for him to see the newer one. Perhaps he will.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! And if needed, most user manuals are available online these days. I bought a telescope at least ten years ago, but never really used it. My brother asked for it, but I couldn't find the manual (which I thought I'd stored with it). But even that has an online manual, so I hunted down the link and sent it to him.

Hope you've stopped vibrating - those sounds like great scores, though! Using a pressure washer is unreasonably satisfying, isn't it?!

That's so cool that you too have a recycling shop now! I don't know how many things I've bought at ours over the years. I hope yours will turn out just as useful as ours!

Sounds like you're having great fun with your first finds! Hopefully you can find instructions on the net before you've completely destroyed the lining of your stomachs ;-D

I'd no idea wearing a tracksuit was smart! I'm glad I've never had a hankering after being smart in that case.

Yay for a washer and coffee machine! I buy soooo many things second hand, it's so much cheaper! And sometimes it's nice to buy things I wouldn't otherwise be able to afford, or justify spending the money on even if I could. But mostly I try to stick to buying what I need.
