I realised Festivids has been live for a bit and have been happily checking out the vids, so far on my first pass I've enjoyed vids from Bake Off which was fun, and I liked how it was early Bake Off which I enjoyed more than the ones now. Ghosts which was just lovely, and this perfect one for We Are Lady Parts

I was talking to Corey yesterday, asking if there was anything in particular he wanted for his birthday and he said he'd rather have something practical from his Amazon list, so that's something that can be easily sorted. He's on lates all next week apart from Tuesday when he's off to a gig, and is going out with friends on his actual birthday, so I'm thinking we'll arrange a Friday meet-up and get a late dinner/early tea in Newcastle.

One of the Snowflake responses linked to Project Britainand I've had fun reading through it. Though according to some of the custom and etiquette pages, I'm actually an uncouth oaf. I did smile at the 'what do you call meals' section as I've always called them breakfast, dinner and tea, but using lunch has slowly crept into use too while saying dinner for the evening meal still seems all kinds of wrong.

Today we had an Olio pick-up and then went for a walk. I should have been suspicious when James drove to a place we don't visit that often, but also a place that's heavily wooded. Yeah, I ended up carrying a branch home, thankfully not a big one, but big enough.

I had to call in at Kayleigh's after that but didn't stop long as it was Bodhi's nap time and she wasn't in a sociable mood at all.

I start my first mail survey postings next week and today I got an email explaining that parcels are about to be added to the schedule too. But what I like is instead of the stupid cubes with nothing in them, the smaller parcels will contain books which you can either keep, give away to someone else who would like it, a charity shop, or send it back freepost to the survey place. So now I'm interested in what kinds of books will actually be sent.

Ooooof Project Britain reeks of Southern English classism (although through the lens of someone who is a trifle non-U themselves and hasn't quite understood. Supper would be more U than Dinner, unless it's a formal dinner). It's quite entertaining, but I hope no one's using it as a be all and end all guide (and if they're using it to write posh people they're buggered :))

I have to agree about your take on Project Britain. I enjoyed checking out the site but often couldn't relate to what was being said as it was totally unlike my own experience. Though, it does show how hard it is to write something based in another country and why a native beta reader can be so helpful. That personal touch can make all the difference.

He was sneaky, all, lets's have our walk down by the river, the part where there just happens to be a wood on the other side of the bridge. It was a nice walk and I saw snowdrops which is always lovely, but I didn't expect to be rooting around for fallen branches today.

I was so happy to read about the book situation. It makes much more sense than them spending nearly £4 on sending a cardboard cube that weighs practically nothing and I like how they said, keep them, gift them, give to charity or send back via freepost. Just please don't throw the books away.

The books make so much more sense. How the last company thought they were fooling the postpeople I don't know. No one would spend so much postage on something that weighed so little. Of course, now I'm really curious about what books are going to be sent.

I'm sure I'll meet up with Corey at some point this week. It's just a shame he's on all lates as it cuts down when we can meet. When he's on those shifts he ends up pretty much nocturnal, not waking until mid-afternoon, which is a weird time to go eat.

I'd completely forgotten Festivid happens at this time of the year so thank you so much for reminding me! I'm already starting to feel sleepy though so any exploring will have to wait for tomorrow.

Yeah, tea has always meant dinner in these parts. Word usage is funny, I easily interchange saying lunch or dinner now, meaning the same meal, but never say dinner for the tea time meal. I'm not even sure why one has changed so much and the other has.

I'll post about what books I get, I agree it's such a better idea to send them than the empty cubes. Now I'll look forward to getting a parcel and not dread the knowing look from the postman.
