The nurses' next strike dates have been announced and they're on the 1st and 2nd of next month. The 1st is my lymph appointment but while Grahame is a specialist nurse, I don't know if he'll be striking due to working out of the hospice. Then James is supposed to get an x-ray the same afternoon, that we're unsure about too as while it's at the walk-in centre and not the hospital it's still attended by nurses.

On the 2nd he was supposed to have his MRI scan to keep a check on his kidney issue, that one is at the hospital and I'm very doubtful if it'll go ahead, which is typical as he's already waited months for it.

Storm Otto hit today but thankfully I knew it was coming so yesterday I braced the wobbly fence between our garden and next door, so while the winds were wild the worst damage was the wheelie bin flipping on its side and a load of rubbish strewn everywhere. Ideally, we would have stayed in today but had agreed to take my SiL to a medical appointment. She got 32 botox injections in her forehead, head and neck which will hopefully help with the crippling migraines she gets. She was out faster than we expected so we went for some lunch before dropping her off at my nephew's school where he was part of an achievement assembly.

Yesterday Rosie went for her annual service, so got to hang at the garage for a couple of hours, but that's done even if she's all bashed on the side still. Then after a drive along the coast we came home and I helped Kayleigh move her resin supplies to Corey's old room so they can remain sawdust free.

Tomorrow we've tickets booked to go see the new Ant Man, and will be going out to eat first. Not sure where yet but my MiL has said I need to buy myself a cocktail. Though if I do that and with the film being at 5pm I may do a James and fall asleep and miss it *g*

Strikes are understandable, but I'm sorry they're so inconvenient for you and James.

Yeah, I understand and support all the strikes, and loads are going on right now or about to start again. But the timing wasn't the best, hitting exactly the three appointments we have.

I still need to go out and clean up the garden. While the storm has passed its still windy and I don't fancy chasing rubbish around.

Our cinema actually serves alcohol so I could actually have my cocktail while watching. But they're so expensive I'd be mentally counting the cost of each sip *g*

It's just typical that the only three appointments we have are over the two strike days. But you never know, the raise may be granted before then. I'd like to think so for the nurses sake.

I really don't like strong wind. But the fence survived another storm which is a miracle.

I support the nurses action and hope they get their pay rise, goodness knows they deserve it.

It's just typical that the only appointments we have right now are on those exact dates. But, none are really time sensitive and may go ahead yet. Especially if the government backs down with the raises. Though that I doubt!

Timing is everything, and bad timing is the worst. So, hopefully, your appointments aren't delayed too much or can be rescheduled. Because I agree nurses generally deserve more than they get, and it would be nice if they could get it without resorting to extreme action that disrupts patients.

The nurses do such a hard job and deserve a lot more pay than they actually get. Add in the ambulance service strikes and the potential for the junior doctors to walk out and the government has to do something, but I can't see a resolution anytime soon.

I still haven't fully cleaned up the garden. The bin is upright again, the random bits of rubbish picked up, not so much.

It is a lot of disruption. I just hope the government actually does something about the pay rises because the strikes are getting more frequent now and affecting more areas each time.

I think a cocktail decanted into a pop bottle would do the trick as you're allowed to take in outside food and drink. Though, admittedly, would lose some of the visual appeal *g*

I completely agree. I support the strikers, but there's no denying that all the strikes are causing issues.

Sadly no cocktails happened, but a birthday milkshake was consumed.

While I very much sympathise with the strikers I can see how frustrating it must be for you to have all your appointments afflicted like this. I guess hoping for a solution before then is pretty useless but I'll still keep my fingers crossed!

I'm glad to hear you survived the storm unscathed! We only got hit with the uttermost edge so the damage here seems to have been mostly just broken off twigs and branches.

I very much hope the injections will help your SiL! I've had migraine exactly once and I never want to experience something like it again.

Thankfully, the strikes have been called off. I really didn't expect that to happen so am relieved about that.

Up until now the injections haven't seemed to help my SiL, they did say she may need more of them before anything gets better. So I just hope that's the case as it's miserable for her.
