Feb. 28th, 2023 08:17 amThank you
romantical for the beautiful card and message inside. It was such a lovely thing to receive.
My MiL went home last night. What I thought would be a visit from Friday afternoon to Sunday night actually turned into Wednesday morning to Monday night, but it all went okay.
It helped that James was off work apart from yesterday, as it's work mornings that are most difficult as we get up at 5:30 so I can help him get ready, make breakfast and a packed lunch, and get him out in time, but of course, my MiL is still sleeping then. So, only one day of creeping around was good.
We had a couple of days out, the nicest a drive to Seahouses which is about an hour and a bit up the coast and some days where my MiL stayed in and me and James nipped out for groceries etc. There was one tense day when she ended up arguing over the phone with my SiL and I wondered if my MiL would have to stay here longer, but it ended up a storm in a teacup and they were fine the next day. Basically, my MiL asked us to get a statement for her from her bank and she had much less money than she expected. I don't think it's anything sinister, mainly that she hasn't been out to the shops etc since autumn last year and prices have shot up since then and I don't think she realised just how much the stuff she was asking my SiL to buy actually costs now. For example, a simple fish shop dinner for the three of us at Seahouses cost nearly £60 which she obviously didn't expect. So yeah, they were fine by the next day but while she hadn't meant to sound accusing my MiL really did when she phoned my SiL asking about the money.
Today I intend to put furniture back in place and having a quiet day, not that my MiL is loud herself, but her oxygen generator is, and also, having that in the living room meant I couldn't light any candles, which I had to stop myself instinctively doing each night when it started to get dark. Also, today, catching up a bit online to see what you all have been up to. And watching the new The Last of Us ep as by the time we got home last night it was nearly time for bed.
The nurse's strike was called off so tomorrow is my lymph appointment and James' x-ray, then the next day his CT scan and vague plans to go to the cinema afterwards.

Date: 2023-03-03 07:17 am (UTC)Totally. I think my MiL got a big shock when buying stuff herself.
I still haven't seen the film, I ran out of time the last two days. Tomorrow maybe.

Date: 2023-03-05 08:28 am (UTC)I had a quorn pie and chips at the fish and chip shop, and would rate that. James and my MiL's fish and chips were massive and looked impressive. They were satisfied anyway.
