I went to the cinema with James on Saturday, and as the first Popeyes in the area has opened in the Metrocentre, we decided to check it out. It had a decent enough veggie burger and James said the chicken was good, but the biscuit with honey was a bit disappointing. I knew biscuits were similar to UK scones, but even so, it was a bit sad to get a tiny scone-like thing with some honey to use as a dip. I suspect that actual biscuits with honey will be much nicer, but I'll be taking a pass on these ones in future.

The cosplayers were outside of the cinema again, this time all Star Wars themed, so James had his photo taken with them and then we went to watch the film and found two ladies in our seats. They moved when asked, but only along the row, then had to move again when the people who had booked those seats arrived. And just, you have to book specific seats when you book your tickets so I don't get why people don't sit in them, because it only leads to this situation where you have to move multiple times, especially considering this was a small screen that was pretty full.

James fell asleep literally two minutes into the film -- we saw What's Love Got to do With It -- and said it wasn't his fault he didn't enjoy the film. And really, he can't use that excuse as he didn't see enough to actually know if he liked it or not. I quite liked it, it's not the best thing I've seen by a long shot and the end was obvious a mile off, but it was easy on the eye watching-wise.

Today the weather is all doom and gloom saying snow and cold are coming and will hit our area late afternoon and for the next few days. A few flakes have come down so far and I'd like to think it stays like that, especially as I have a letter to post tomorrow.

I'm quite fond of Popeye's chicken, though I tend not to eat it very often

hope the weather doesn't get worse! that makes life more miserable, especially if you need to leave the house for any reason

The chicken did look good, and the place was very busy so I hope they continue to do well.

Well, it did snow last night and is lying but not much for now. The doom and gloom weather forecasts are still around until the end of the week so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for cold sunny days and not more snow.

The movie and meal were both fun, the biscuit was nice too. Just, I expected something much bigger for the price.

I need to go out this morning and then intend to stay in later. All my poor daffodils are covered in snow now, spring concealed by a last blast of winter.

Hmmm, I would not call the biscuits we get at Popeyes tiny so I wonder what’s up with the translation? Also, my goodness but people went over the edge of rationality when they introduced their chicken sandwich but that was possibly due to COVID restrictions.

eta: Alsoalso, the Southern good-old-boy way to eat a Popeyes’ biscuit is to split it, butter it up, then mix some hot sauce into the honey and drizzle that over the cut sides. :D

The biscuit was tasty but so small, much smaller than I expected. I like the sound of the Southern good-old-boy way of eating, though here you'd have to take your own hot sauce, but once you'd cut the thing in half each side would be a mouthful. I'm hoping we just got an inferior specimen size-wise.

The advertising in the restaurant was they sold the chicken burger that broke the internet. So that ties in with what you're saying.

I'd go back, I liked the atmosphere and small biscuit size aside, the food was very good.

i've never had UK scones, but i bet the import of US biscuits with honey isn't good. a lot of biscuits and honey in the US aren't really good unless you're getting true down south comfort cooking.

That makes sense. I'd like to try biscuits and honey from a place that does them well. I suspect what I ate was a very pale imitation of something that would actually be delicious.

The veggie burger was nice, though I did have to wait for it to be made. I guess in a place famous for chicken it's not asked for that often.

It was silly of the ladies, plus, they ended up dropping popcorn everywhere each time they moved.

I think James outdid himself last time, falling asleep within minutes. He usually waits a while but this time he was straight out *g*

Well, the doom and gloom forecast was right to an extent. We have had heavy snow and really cold nights, but the days have been so sunny everything melts. Then builds up again once it gets dark and the snow comes back.
