Mar. 15th, 2023 04:16 pmI watched the last of season episodes of two different shows the other night.
The Last of Us and The Great Pottery Throwdown. Obviously very different, but both were great and I enjoyed them both. I can't believe The Last of Us is over already, it feels like the whole season has flashed by.
Not last night but the previous nights, after being told by many people I'd enjoy it, I've been watching Ted Lasso and am nearly at the end of season one. I admit it, you're all right, that's pretty great, too.
I had a walk into town yesterday, posted some letters, picked up James' leg strap with the new buckle -- and was lucky enough to have some actual cash in my purse as apparently the cobblers don't take card payments. The man was nice though and said if I didn't have the cash I could have gone back and paid another day.
James also got his ear chewed by my MiL on the morning while driving to work. Long story short, he thought he was taking my SiL to a hospital appointment next Thursday, which is his day off. But the appointment is actually Tuesday and my MiL was up in arms about how my SiL was going to get there. Which she had no right to be being as she was the one who told us the date.
In the end my SiL rearranged the appointment but then asked James to take her to another appointment that actually is on Thursday. So he's still tied up for a few hours on his one day off next week.
I was out today and got a text message saying a package had been delivered and left in my safe place. Along with a close-up photo of the parcel label. I had no idea what had actually been delivered but didn't worry about rushing home as my safe space is down in the DPD app as the greenhouse, along with the neighbours who are happy to take in deliveries. Except, when I got home this driver apparently thought the safe space was in front of the house next to the path where everyone walks past. No wonder he didn't use a wide shot. Then it turned out the giant box contained six ice packs, a load of cooling material, and two small Actimel drinks to test. So that was a letdown.

Date: 2023-03-15 06:37 pm (UTC)Why would your MiL be out of sorts over the appointment when it's not even hers?!! o_O
I'm irritated on your behalf at the incorrect placement of the package. Probably didn't want to walk farther than necessary.

Date: 2023-03-16 08:42 am (UTC)I've got no idea what got my MiL so riled. Everything was easily sorted out and the situation didn't affect her in any way.

I suspect you're right. It's the close-up of the proof of delivery photo that gets me. They're supposed to show the surroundings but this was the label only, so obviously, the delivery person knew it had been left in the wrong place.

Date: 2023-03-16 05:28 pm (UTC)I’ve heard of Ted Lasso but didn’t know much about it, so was surprised when there was an ad and I saw it was football related, for some reason I thought it was something else
Oh no! How annoying she told him the wrong date yet it’s somehow his fault.
That’s really strange. People are so odd with what they think is a ‘safe space’ I’ve had things left outside in the rain and not been told (and one time one thing was left in one of the bins! Good job it wasn’t a bin day)

Date: 2023-03-20 12:49 pm (UTC)Yeah, I was surprised when I realised Ted Lasso was football related too. But it makes me laugh and the characters are engaging. Plus, with them being short it's an easy thing to just keep watching.

I've heard of things being left in bins too, and that doesn't make sense to me simply because of what you say, what if it's bin day? I've had parcels thrown over the fence into the garden before, but this was the first time one was left in full sight at the front of the house.

Date: 2023-03-18 06:35 pm (UTC)It must be so frustrating to have James' relatives treating him like their own taxi service!
Stupid delivery person! And yes, such a big box for so little content sounds like a real letdown.

Oh it is. As you know I've complained about it before, especially as it's not like we live in the same town so he has to drive a while to pick them up in the first place. Plus, they asked if he'd do a tip run for them, with a strong hint he could do it after bringing my SiL home. Now, he doesn't do any of the shifting and carrying but it still would have tied up another couple of hours of his day off.
As it is he said he'd do a tip run, but not on that day, so they'll have to wait. And my SiL's appointment got pushed back a day so James couldn't take her then. Amazingly, she managed to arrange transport herself when he wasn't available.
The delivery person was stupid. It would have been so easy for someone to just scoop up the box and walk away with it.
