Apr. 22nd, 2023 01:57 pmHamilton is going on tour and is coming to Sunderland in summer 25. I've signed for the priority list to get tickets when they're released, but it feels so weird to be even thinking of getting something so far ahead.
I had an excellent sleep last night, waking up after 7am for the first time in ages. Got up and managed to nab a sushi Too Good to Go Magic Bag from the franchise in Sainsburys. It was the first time they'd advertised on there so I was lucky to get a bag when I did, especially as it was a morning pick-up. I'm not that keen on sushi, but James loves it but doesn't get it that often due to cost. So, nearly £20 worth of goods for £5 was well worth it.
Yesterday we went for a walk at a new to us relatively local park. I went because I'd heard a flock of cockatiels live there, and they do, multiple groups of them! They were so beautiful, bright green and vibrant as they perched on the branches and flew around the park. A guy stopped and asked if we'd never seen a cockatiel before as we were standing watching them, and no, no we had not, not in real life and free to fly where they want.
The park was also fun because in half of it, all the trees were covered in fairy doors and houses. I've never seen anything like it, literally, every tree in one part was decorated and it looked quite magical. By chance we started to chat with a couple walking their dog and the lady was actually the head of the volunteers who decorated the park. She invited me along to a group where they make fairy houses, but I think I'll give it a swerve. I like looking at the things, making them not so much.
Right now it's cold, grey and mizzly so after our time out this morning I'm staying in and catching up online a bit, while Stand By Me is on the TV. That made me laugh when I saw as a couple of days ago I got a FaceBook notification from my school days bestie which simply said, 'I'm going to rip off your head and shit down your neck' which surprised me because I didn't think I'd offended her or anything lately. Then clicked the link and realised it was posted as a tagged comment to me on a post about Stand By Me, a film we were obsessed by back in the day, with the phrase being a direct quote.
Man, we were gone over the film and watched it so many times. It's on now and I'm typing this and half watching and am being thrown back years to watching on a tiny TV and debating who was best, River Phoenix or Will Wheaton with occasionally, Corey Feldman getting a mention. I'd feel sorry for Jerry O'Connell that he was never a part of our teen debates but hey, he got plenty of attention from me once he starred in Sliders.

Date: 2023-04-23 12:14 pm (UTC)The walk in the park sounds lovely! (I'd rather look at the creations than do them, too.)
Yesterday was lovely here, but today it's gray and rainy. It rained so hard overnight, I checked our rain guage and we got over 1.5 inches! Pip's little catch basin, which the water had all leaked out of, is full again!
I follow Will Wheaton on Tumblr and I'd like to read his books.

Date: 2023-04-24 10:28 am (UTC)The walk in the park was great. But yeah, I'm not into building stuff and would rather just look at the end results. Writing, when I actually do it, is about the end of my creativity.
1.5 inches of rain is a lot! The weather seems to be all over the place everywhere. After that beautiful day it's hailing here right now and is cold. I've had to put my Oodie on I was so cold.
Will Wheaton always seems interesting, I'd like to read his books too.

Date: 2023-04-25 07:11 pm (UTC)Congratulations to the fantastic sushi bargain!
Sounds like you'd a wonderful time at the park. I've never seen free-flying cockatiels either. It must have been such a cool sight.

They looked amazing. I only found out about the park because on Facebook, someone put a picture of a cockatiel in a local garden and asked if someone had lost one. That led to a load of comments about how it was probably a wild one from a park a few miles away. That was the first time I'd heard of them and I've wanted to check them out ever since. The fairy garden stuff was an unexpected bonus.
