[community profile] intoabar is open for sign-ups again and yet again I'm considering signing. Which is something I've done every year for a long time now I know, but it's such a fun concept. After my Ted Lasso binge watch, I'm tempted to use that as the main character fandom, I'd just need to decide on the other fandoms to match with. This urge to sign is also strengthened by a lovely comment I just got on one of my old bandom picfor1000 stories, which I've just reread and really enjoyed.

Things I'm watching now that I'm up to date with Ted Lasso. I've started to watch Bel Air and am enjoying it. It took a while to get into due to comparing it to The Fresh Prince, and they're two very different shows in tone. But, four episodes in I'm liking it. On [personal profile] spikedluv's rec I've started to watch So Help Me Todd, and that's fun, too. Though I can't binge-watch that as I'm having to download the eps. While on a night, with James, I'm watching New Amsterdam after we realised we were suddenly two seasons behind.

The mail survey has overloaded me with books lately. The latest was Birdsong by Sebastian Faulks which apparently is loved by many and seems to be about the horrors of war, however, a review on the back cover states it was 'stirringly erotic' Which seems contradictory so needing to know more, I checked out reviews online and found this review Sebastian Faulks' Birdsong is a kind of Harlequin romance with a literary slant. All the elements for pulp romance are there: "romantic" hero: soldier, refined gentleman; unhappy married woman; "romantic" locale: French suburbs, countryside; numerous, gratuitous sex scenes (I remember, horrifically, an excess of pulsating "members" and curtains of "flesh")

It's been a while since I've read about a pulsating member, I may have to put it top of my to-read list.

It's a beautiful day today, sunny and warm so I've been out in the garden again potting on the tomatoes and courgettes. The spring onions, beans, sugar snaps, sweet peas and carrots are growing beautifully and I think the lettuces are too. That or I've been carefully looking after two big weeds considering I planted loads of seeds in the trough and only two plants have come through so strong. I was sitting chilling out in the rocking chair earlier but it actually got too hot in the direct sun.

Now I just need the bags of stones that are in the car so I can finish covering the edges/borders around the paving slabs. I bought three but they're so heavy that I can only carry one at a time, even using the festival trolley. So the other two bags have been travelling back and forward to Newcastle for the last three days.

Your garden sounds amazing *_*! I'm also deeply considering intoabar! It's so fun but I've only succeeded once :P Figuring out those extra fandoms is so hardddd

Good luck with your pulsating member ;D

I'm glad you're enjoying So Help Me Todd so far!

That book description made me chuckle. Enjoy!

I thought of you when my mom purchased FOUR of those trolley things (buy 2, get 2 free). *g* She's giving one to me and my sister, and I'm not sure if she's keeping the extra for herself or offering it to my other sister.

Have you decided if you're going to sign up for the challenge? It's such a fun challenge and even with my picky reading habits I manage to find something to read there every year.

We have such different tastes, I would do just about anything to AVOID reading about pulsating members ;-D

So nice to hear you too are having sunny and warm weather. Good luck with those stones!

I'd probably choice Jason or Bruce from Batman comics, but when you asked that I was suddenly like, what if Deadpool? Hmmm. I guess I gotta choose today, if I'm gonna!

And I love container gardening!! We are moving this summer and last year my mental health was too shit to contemplate it, but I have big hopes to join you spring 2024!! LOL Fingers crossed for lettuce!

Every time there's a book like this that's hailed as 'daring' and 'erotic' and 'harrowing' or whatever, and I look at the writing and I'm like... Yeah, I can get better on all of these on AO3 for free, thanks. Scratch that, I can write better than this, on most cases. Fanfic has raised my standards for writing to High, High, Very High.
