I just scraped into joining
intoabar this morning. I was reading my comment replies and a couple mentioned the challenge and I realised that the deadline to sign must be close. Checked, and realised it wasn't just close, but had actually passed. That is, in my time zone, I had less than ten minutes in the challenge time zone. So I quickly commented and squeaked in literally minutes before the deadline and the mod posted that no more sign-up would be accepted.
I enjoyed watching Eurovision on Saturday. It was a nice mix of acts and the interval songs were pretty good too. I never expected the UK to win but also never expected the actual result. Ouch. I really do think the song and performance was better than that. Finland was still my favourite though.
I bought some bedding plants yesterday to fill some empty containers. I also got a raspberry cane that can go in the extra big container. It's the first time I've tried to grow raspberries and online opinions seem to be mixed in terms of how successful they are in pots, but I figured I'd give it a go. So, I've just spent the last couple of hours planting those and having more of a tidy-up, and can now say, the soil from the big raised bed is now all gone. I have the raspberry cane container in the corner, I've moved some paving slabs to give a solid floor and put done the stones. Now I just need to decide if I'm moving the table and chairs to that space, or leave them where they are and use that space for more plants. Because after worrying I didn't have enough, I now seem to have an excess of tomatoes and courgettes again.
Of course, I'm now filthy. As always I wish I was the kind of gardener who wafts around looking cool and collected. Instead, my nails are black, I have soil in my hair and I'm considering an early bath. Though, if I do that it means taking off my compression wraps early which I don't like to do.
I messaged a vet nurse who does home visits to see how much it would be to cut Milo's nails. It turns out she doesn't actually cover our area, but, right now is working as a locum nurse at Simply Cats, where we've been taking Milo, and said she'd make an exception in our case as long as we give a week's notice so she can advertise being in the area. So that was lovely of her and will save Milo the stress of a visit to the practice.

Date: 2023-05-15 06:57 pm (UTC)I hope Milo's home claw trimming goes well - I know I'd hate to subject Olivier to going somewhere to do his - it's hard enough at home, but he hates travelling so much it would be exponentially worse

Date: 2023-05-16 07:21 am (UTC)I'm glad I've found someone who will do nail-clipping at home, and as the cost is the same as going to the vet it was a no-brainer really. There's no point subjecting our cats to stressful journeys when they're not needed.

That sounds fantastic. I hope I get to do that later in the year.

Date: 2023-05-16 08:09 pm (UTC)I didn't even know you could grow raspberries in pots but I'll keep everything crossed yours will flourish and give lots and lots of berries! It would seem that with at least courgettes you either don't get any at all or far too many!
I think that sort of gardener only exists in tv shows :-)
That's so good of the vet nurse!

You know, I think you're right. Even if I'm sitting in the garden reading I don't look that calm and collected *g*
